Confused...

Post by superboi » Tue May 09, 2006 8:14 am

Ok... I was sent this quick comment thingy I didn't know about till now, and it was about my AMV. All it said was "The music ruined it." WTF is that? I don't care about the comment, but how the crap am I supposed to argue or defend my own work if I don't even know who sent it to me or how to send something back to them?

Every1 has different tastes in music, and if you don't like a song then I really don't wanna hear about it. As far as I'm concerned they don't have a degree in audio engineering, so what gives them the right to decide "the music ruined it"? W/e.... I already won an award for it, and fan girls won't stop goin ga-ga over it at conventions, so I ain't sayin no more. I'm just gonna let that speak for itself.

So... no offense... but if you still feel that your video is good, and you know you have many fans of it... why are you complaining about a quick comment? I'm sorry. This just doesn't make sense to me.

I mean, after you say something like that, you've obviously proven that you have confidence in your work, so why even bother complaining about some random quick comment? Moreover, if you were able to "defend" yourself, as you said, do you really think it would do any good? Do you think that the commenter would like the music any better if you tried to justify it? I don't think so.

I don't know. I guess, to me, this is just a pointless thread. If you see this comment as nothing more than a mild irritant, and it hasn't ruined your confidence in your editing ability, then there was no reason to post about it. Just brush it off and move on. If that's all the commenter could be bothered to say, then it wasn't a good QC anyway.

Julia Roberts also won Best Actress. There is truly no justice in this world.

on topic:
I braught up this once... and it was rejected by the majority on the forums, for most of them liked remaining annon, made them braver to be more honest.. or something.. or thats what they said..

thing is when it comes to comments like that best thing to do is agree to dissagree... someone had a different taste in music than you did... and they just has no tact in saying "okay the video was alright, but its not my taste in music" or whatever, or perhaps they were angry with the music choice, or maybe the music quality was low or something (i donno ive not seen your video)... either way agree to dissagree, move on, and live life...

because if its the choice of music that they didnt like then youre not going to change their mind..

but then this will bring up the argument "well they shouldnt download if they dont like the music!" or whatever... too bad someone downloaded it... either way its their choice to download...

anyways similar arguments have been braught up in the forums before... best i can say is dont stress it, and dont feed your snake with a mouse that bites it.

Ehh... I'm just really complaining about the fact that I can't talk back to the guy. If some1 says something I don't agree with (especially if it's directed towards me) then I feel they should atleast have the balls to hear my two sence. I'm not the kinda jack ass that'll go flaming other people just because they didn't like something I made, and coming up w/ good logical reasoning to counter what people say is something I kinda enjoy. Not to mention coming up w/ a logical argument against this isn't that hard to do.

All I ask is for people to listen to the other side when they decide to open their mouth. As soon as some1 gets their point across, then they should be game enough to hear some1 elses point even if it is against what they said. It doesn't really make sence if some1 speaks expecting others to listen, then refuses to listen to anything else after they're done talking.

The point of a Quick Comment is that I DON'T have to hear your reply. I can say what I want when I want to whomever I want and I don't ahve to worry about them hating me for it. It's great. I can be as brutal as I want in a Quick Comment without worrying about the other person at all. 8-)

(Sad, you say? Oh well. I am always way way way too nice with crappy videos when I give opinions, which leads me to never give opinions to videos I deem terrible. With a Quick Comment, I can ast least say all the negative stuff, point out the guides or offer some advice, and move on without being wishy washy.)

but can't you do that anyway even w/ out the quick comment feature? So what if they know who you are. As long as you can justify why you don't like the video then I'm not gonna be mad at all. You can say the visuals don't make much sence and seem to be random, or the timing is bad durring action sequences, etc... The only thing the quick comment feature does is make it possible for people to say something is bad when they don't know how to point out what exactly is bad (even if nothing is bad). I find it near impossible for the music to ruin an AMV cuz the fact of the matter is artists are getting paid to make music, and well... you aren't.

But c'mon... "The music ruined it." It's an emo song called A Perfect Sonnet. An emo song for an AMV that won best Romance or Drama about how Julia died in Cowboy Bebop, all the crap that her and Spike went through, and how Spike wanted to get revenge on Vicious for her death, and how they can be re-united w/ each other through death. If an emo song can't sum that up I don't know what can, so in my opinion I think the song made the damn thing. It didn't ruin it. What ruined it are people who are completely against an entire genre of music just because the artist is constantly sad. I think it's a pretty stupid idea myself, but I'm a human. I get sad sometimes, and I listen to music according to how I feel.
