I really don't like some of these rules... but, meh, it's your contest.

Anyhow, i just wanted to know if the winning submission rule also applies to AFTER the contest deadline...?

like can we submit to 3 cons at once, even if it might win at one con a few days before showing at this con?

I think the reason for this rule usually is because they want Fresh stuff, and to hinder trolling... intentionally trying to get multiple prizes, or just multiple showings of a video that has already won at previous cons, so I personally don't think there should be a problem with entering a video to multiple cons at once, so long as it hasn't already won before you submit. But of course thats upto joykiller and other members of the amv team there to make the final call on.

I'll have 2 videos done intime for this I think, (though 1 may not be apropriate for con viewing) but I'm also planning to submit to Otakon aswell, so we'll see.

Wow, let's eliminate 50% of comedy vids. Smart.

That's also another reason I can't submit.

Voice bubbles are really no different from self-made subtitles. They're both inserted text intentionally put in the video for effect (comedic or otherwise)...

Ok, let's address some of these concerns shall we? :D

As for the winning at another convention/contest, Bakadeshi pretty much nailed the reasoning on the head. Fresh stuff, hindering trolling, etc. If your video hasn't previously won anything at the time that you submit it to this con, then there is nothing to worry about, even if you submit it today, and it wins something tommorow you are fine.

As for the subtitle issue, I think some clarification is in order here. What I meant with this rule is that I don't want to get submissions that have all the lyrics to the song that the video is done to, or have a bunch of clips of anime characters with their mouths moving, and a full on minute long imaginary storyline going on at the bottom of the screen. A (moderate amount) of Text bubbles or onomatopoeias (like bang! or pow!) are not really what I meant by subtitles. Quick little snippits of text strategically inserted in a non overpowering way for comedic effect are definately allowed.

If you are in doubt at all about what will fly and what won't just email me! I will be glad to make a tenative call on anything that anyone is concerned with. And if all else fails just send it in anyway! I have been very good in the past about notifying people of any issues we have encountered with their videos.

You guys might just be thinking too hard about this, really, it's not as hardcore as some of you are making it out to be ;;^_^.

I hope this helps!

P.S. - Please take all of the personal attacks to PMs. I'd like to keep this thread open for questions and comments directly related to the contest if possible.

EDIT - I also wanted to point out that the rules for this contest are, and will likely always be, a work in progress. If anyone has a compelling reason why any of the rules for this contest should be changed or done away with, then I am always open to hear them provided that it is done in a constructive way.

And for the record, throwing your hands up in the air and saying "OH WELL CAN'T SUBMIT NOW ;_; " is *not* constructive. :P

My newest amv "Sending Freedom" is almost finished. So I'll have it done in the next week or so. At least I'm hoping.

I noticed you don't have your contest listed in the Org database (or at least didn't as of yesterday) so that it can be added to a video's profile.

Just wanted to give you a heads up :)
