ever get that stupid feeling?

Post by demonblacksky » Mon Apr 10, 2006 2:53 am

Do you ever get that stupid feeling where you think you first amv's are going those badass ones even more than your future amv's. Than it turns out when you make alot of them and you improve alot then you take a look at the first ones you made and you see theres a lot of screw ups and you realize that they suck?

Yeah, but only because prior to making my own vids the only amvs I could find downloads for were very ugly dbz vids with little to no editing in them. I scoured this site for months downloading every video with a working link and they were all the same, not one that stood out above the rest. So when I made my own vids and rejoined this site I thought I was at least at the same level as everyone else. It wasn't until the carrot really got running that I found download links to videos that were better than the ones I'd been watching. Then the donut came and the 'greats' were uploaded. That's when I realized I sucked. I was very surprised. I don't get that stupid feeling anymore because I know for every great vid available for download here there's something even better unavailable - and mine will always be crap compared to them.

Lucky for me I like my vids, no matter how they measure up. ^_^ I still get grins watching my first vids, even if I know now how unwittingly bad they really are. They're still mine.

Umm nope, I like my first one. of course it has technical issues, but I liked the concept and the outcome. I am proud of it, so why should I think it sucks? Well I probably would if it was a dbz-wmv video  .

Nope, hell I don't even show people the first AMV I ever made, it's not even catalogued here on the org. All that remains is a VHS tape of it I have and one that Anime Expo has a hold of from some years ago.

I have for only one of my AMV's....maybe two. I thought they were the greatest thing alive now I wish I never made it. Some of my friends at school have downloaded one of them recently and praise it but I just shut it down saying "gaahhh, I don't like it, it's not all that good".

Well, I'm actually still pretty happy with my very first video...of course there are some technical things that could've been done better, imo, but I still dig the concept and think it's pretty decent for a first vid.

Now, the next few videos after that (up until the beginning of this year) are a different matter entirely...in fact, one of them sucks so bad that I'm planning on remaking it this year after I get a better computer.

But yeah...at the time I made them, I thought they all kicked ass. Then I went to a couple of cons and downloaded a ton of vids from the org...and realized just how much I had to learn...and I'm still learning.

There's so much i didn't know back when i made my first video, and not just technically. It was way too slow, with jerky motion, and low quality footage. But... it was still reasonably original. So i don't mind so much.

Sometimes i wonder if i should go back and remake it, only better this time. A friend did that to his first AMV: before he uploaded it, he left it alone for a couple of months, then went back and completely recreated it with much better footage and sync. And it's still one of his most popular videos now.
