Scryed: The Last Stand

Post by Pwolf » Thu Apr 06, 2006 1:47 am

zomg it's a trailer... by me... no it's not another Ace Combat Zero trailer... but thats not completely out of my head yet >.>

anyway, yes, it's a trailer... I took the X-Men 3: The Last Stand trailer, cut up the dialog a bit, and edited Scryed to it.

I didn't want this video to just be a trailer using an anime. A lot of people make trailers and try to match people up based on looks and their role in the movie. I tried to avoid this and match the voices and charactors to characters that fit the voice and that i could portray in the trailer correctly. Example being i didn't pair Magnito with the main evil bad guy of Scryed/ the voice didn't fit and he just didn't fit that kind of character. Magnito is a character that always seems to have a hidden agenda on his mind and i matched him with who i think best matched that persona. hope that made sense >.<

technical stuff? i edited the audio to remove names and other things... i masked out lip flaping and... i think thats it... so here is the video:

Want to say thanks to my two canadian beta testers for their help and input:

Moonie for beta testing

Krat for beta testing and helping with a stupid section that took me a week to figure out...

thats it, so enjoy. or not :| i dun care.

Although this is not a straight parody/duplicate of the X3 trailer, it is a very good adaptation. I liked it. I had to watch it twice to get the characters straight, there was much going on.

Good job on the casting. Actually, since throughout most of the show Jigmar is the boss baddie, the casting of him as Magneto was appropriate. And I like how Tachibana was cast as Iceman and you used the whole in-show relationships as the trailer relationships. I suppose it was fate that Halle Berry has short hair in X3 and short-haired Scheris is the only female alter of note in Holy. And Straight Cougar as Beast was a hoot, as the characters are oddly similar attitude-wise.

The audio has some issues though, the bass mainly, seems to be a bit too compressed and I think is distorting/clipping. Video quality was great. Although the actual trailer is a wider 2.40:1 aspect ratio...

well, that was kinda the point. i didn't want it to be a straight duplicate.

to be completly honest, i was going to use someone else initialy based on the whole "strom can control the weather so i should use someone similar" line of thought, but Scheris fit the bill so much better based on voice matching and how i could portray the character.

i was thinking the same thing after i compressed the audio. The uncompressed audio i have sounds so much better. as for the video AR, again, i'm not trying to make a complete duplicate so the 2.40:1 AR wasn't on my list of things to do, how ever, 16:9 was, and is sufficient :P

that was hawt! First video today I watched 3 times in a row before commenting on it , and not because I was looking for errors, I just liked it that much ;p

I havn't seen the original trailer, so I can comment on how well I think it stands on its own. Looks very convincing to me. a very well done alternate movie trailer. I only have 2 complaints, the first one has already been mentioned, the issues with the audio. the second one is just 1 synch that seems a bit off, at 01:46, he hits the side of the...tank?... whatever that is a second after the bass sound in the audio which makes it sound out of synch. not sure if you had intented for that to be synched though.

anyway sexy trailer indeed. awesome work.
