Don't you hate it.
This is the first time I have ever posted so here it goes.
Don't you hate it when you make a Music video just to have fun and then wind up with people making really strict comments such as these.
# Good: great song from an awesome band. (This is not from Yami but it is from the same band who did the opening "To Destination". please do some research in the future. also check the lyric translations.)
# Bad: Just another vid that shows a serious lack of effort on the part of the creator. poor editing, subs showing, low image quality, lack of timing. also the song was chosen merely for the title and not because the lyrics make any sense with content.
# General: I was very disappointed.
This is something off an AMV I made with Movie Maker (I have adobe now so it's all good). Yes they may be helping...but researching a SONG!!?? Come on that is a little bit too tight. I did it out of fun...that was mainly it.
What do you think?

You should at least look up the correct name of the song and the band/artist before you list it on the org. If that's considered research, then yeah, I think you should research the songs you use. Technically we're supposed to get songs off cds, so all the research you have to do is look at the cd case...
Looking up the lyrics is entirely different. Almost all the Japanese songs on this site were used for sound alone, with no care about the meaning of the words since only a fraction of the viewers will know more than the otaku words picked up from watching anime. I like to work with translations, but I've also done vids that might as well be instrumental for how little care I put to the fact that the sounds are actually words for those who speak the language. It's a matter of choice.
As for the rest of the comments, they didn't seem harsh. Subs are subs. You can cut them with Virtualdub. Windows movie maker has never stopped me from making videos without subtitles. The editing program has nothing to do with how you prepare the footage, or with the sync, for that matter.

Well...my opinion on this is a double edged sword, so to speak.
I've had my share of flames (and still get them occasionally)...I do the best I can when I make a vid, but it hasn't been until very recently that I've finally figured out the glitches in my capture program, so I've taken some heat for that with the videos I have on the org currently.
The bottom line for me is this - I make videos for me first (because it is a hobby that I enjoy - no one is getting paid here), some close personal friends 2nd and the general public third. If someone that I don't know doesn't like my video for whatever reason, it really doesn't bug me that much. Outright flames are rude...but in the comment you mentioned under "bad," at least they told you what you could do right in the future (such as cropping subs, tightening up the timing, etc). That's better than a QC that simply says "Your AMV is not a good AMV" (I've gotten that one) and gives no reason as to WHY.
Of course, all creators love it when someone says how much they loved your AMV...we're human and we all like praise. To say that we don't care in this regard would be foolish and a lie.
All in all, if you're going to share your AMVs with the world here on the org, you've got to learn to take the bad with the good. It may be frustrating for you at times, but at least be thankful that someone was trying to be constructive in their criticism. You're not going to please everyone...but as long as you please yourself with your vid, you should consider it an accomplishment.

ehhh it happens.... i just dont like getting low scores in sound just cause the person didnt like the song, and then when confronted they say "but i dont like the song"....
I let that one die, no point in arguing.. o.0 plus bad crap happens, so does good crap... so just deal with all the crap i suppose... (have i said crap enough??)
anyways.... you can hate it all you want, but some people take it more seriously than "just a hobby" or "just for fun" as you put it... some people would like to see others improve, and would like to leave info on how someone can improve...
but eeh i guess whatever eh?

true not many ppl read the video's comments, but if you did it "just for fun" you need just understand when to take the heat and make up for your mistakes, and in the end impress this person who, as i'm sure you feel, totally put u down. And about the song title.... if you hav an internet connction and copied the cd, you don't even need to look at the cd case, the info should hav automatically been downloaded.....
"Just another vid that shows a serious lack of effort on the part of the creator."
that on the other hand, was a pretty crappy comment and could hav definently been said better.

if you are doing it just for fun (like most people) you should be prepared to accept bad comments... even if it wasn't for fun, lol... you are posting this on the internet for the public to see, so you can't really expect to /not/ get bad comments.
best advice, try to ignore them. if the comments aren't to your liking, but hold some good points about your editing and the video. you should at least try and learn from it. if you don't want comments, then don't upload the video. otherwise you just have to deal :/

I actually wish people would stop dredging up my old videos, regardless of whether they're praising them or not. I've either already corrected those problems with my editing or I'm just sick of hearing people tell me how good or funny the video is (primarily thinking of How Not To Be Seen here), especially since there are parts of those videos - possibly the entire thing - that bug the hell out of me now.HorrorPhD wrote:Of course, all creators love it when someone says how much they loved your AMV...we're human and we all like praise.
