Lots of ups and downs for me this year, AMV-wise.
Basically, I started out as a Movie Maker Noob and, 30+ videos later ended up being ... a Premiere intermediate.
Throughout, though, I've been learning a lot and had a lot of videos to share:
-
Stand Alone (More) Complex - Part 1: Motoko Kusanagi was my first video of 2005.
-
Inside (Eva) is the first time I used another codec for source footage in Movie Maker (Lagarith Lossless Codec).
-
Tempted by Yomiko is the first time I used MJPEG footage (and would continue to use it as a reliable editing source for most of the year). It would also be the last video I edited using Movie Maker, as I finally bought Premiere Elements 1 and Photoshop Elements 3 in March.
-
The Madness of Hikaru Shidou would be the first time I tried out using special effects in a video.
-
RahXephon: Candle in the Wind would be my first attempt at making an "effects" video, also working with Photoshop for some of the effects.
-
IC Vs. Kitsuner - 10/15/05 was my first Iron Chef-type contest.
So, I've had a very busy 2005. Now that I've improved my computer and picked up a (much improved) Premiere Elements 2.0, I'm hoping to continue to learn and refine my technique all the way through 2006.
My thanks for the year of 2005 go out to:
-
AquaSky (aka
IcyCloud), who I've been learning a lot from over the year. Thank you for being so patient with me.
-
Aieli_Ileia, whose videos I will always be a fan of.
-
Decoy, editing buddy and fellow
Magic fan.
-
Fall_Child42, Chairman of the #AMV Iron Chef Kitchen Stadium.
-
inthesto[/i], gaming fan and all-around okay guy (except for that whole MEEVRARP thing ...
)
- jade_eyed_angel, whose FMA (and other) videos are some of the best out there bar none.
- Scandia, for providing inspiration for two of my videos and being a generally nice person.
- guy007, who I still need to ask for advice at some point on making videos with better effects.
- RutKiskasca, who provided me with some great advice ... and I hope is keeping his head down while editing from the front lines of Iraq.
- The rest of the #AMV regulars, who in and out have been generally the best conversationalists I've had the pleasure of knowing throughout the year.
Happy New Year 2006 to all!
