I pissed off:

    * Phade
    * Flint
    * Sen. Wayne Allard (R-CO)
    * Expedia
    * the Pope (John Paul II and Benedict XVI)
Only one of those is not true.

I was all over the place this year, which is an accurate reflection of real life. I jumped around and tried some new anime, did some experimenting on two long projects, and ended up going back to the basics. I'm coming away from the year feeling adrift and like I have nothing to show for the time I spent.

That said, I did my most difficult vid this year, finally animating my own footage and opening a lot of doors for future projects. I also consider Ego Trip a major vid, involving character cutouts and a little experimentation that I'm glad to have under my belt.

It was a good year for trying new things, but I like comfortable years, so 2004 is still my favorite. I'm hoping next year will be better rather than worse. ^_^;

i saw some good vids this year.
wizard of ozaka and real ninjas were a hoot.
o-phoria was a mindfuck.
return was jaw-dropping.

enjoyed meeting people online and at otakon
glad to see amvwiki get off the ground
was briefly amused by rds/amv radio's quality programming
sad to see local downloads be restricted as a result of external agents
puzzled by AD's disappearance

i made a couple vids this year, less than previous because of oh... warcraft ... submitted to two MEPs (hopefully both of which will be released this year too), started relying more heavily on avisynth in my vids.

2006 i'll be pulling hairs to get my otakon vid done, if time permits, another for awa, and then a "long hiatus."

In the past year to this day, I have been able to win the AMV competition at 3 out of the 5 anime conventions in Australia. I didn't win in AVCon but got special mention for the video I sent (Bratja) and I didn't even join Manifest because, well, I was its coordinator and though we have provisions in the rules for committee members to join, I just didn't think it was ethical for me to compete in the competition I own.

This year was the first time I was an AMV coordinator and it was damn fun to have introduced the anime fans of Melbourne to an Iron Chef competition, which is quite unlike any in the world as we edit or 24 hours.

It was also exciting to be able to get Reflections of Style 2 and screen it, at the same day as it played in AWA. Having a simultaneous world premiere was just awesome and I thank AtomX and lockstock for getting the marvelous stuff to me.

I'm currently working on my most ambitious project yet, but that will count towards 2006. I think I will be releasing videos much more infrequently next year but they will be of higher quality and I think I want to join in more MEPs because they're fun and I might even start one of my own.

I am once again going to try to be elected as AMV coordinator for Manifest this year and once again bring the events that I helped pioneer. It'll be a treat as well if I can find more MEPs and great videos to screen in Manifest, and maybe dedicate an entire room just to AMVs. I guess in the end, I want the Manifest AMV scene to be the biggest and toughest and best out there in Australia.

Lots of ups and downs for me this year, AMV-wise.

Basically, I started out as a Movie Maker Noob and, 30+ videos later ended up being ... a Premiere intermediate.

Throughout, though, I've been learning a lot and had a lot of videos to share:

- Stand Alone (More) Complex - Part 1: Motoko Kusanagi was my first video of 2005.

- Inside (Eva) is the first time I used another codec for source footage in Movie Maker (Lagarith Lossless Codec).

- Tempted by Yomiko is the first time I used MJPEG footage (and would continue to use it as a reliable editing source for most of the year). It would also be the last video I edited using Movie Maker, as I finally bought Premiere Elements 1 and Photoshop Elements 3 in March.

- The Madness of Hikaru Shidou would be the first time I tried out using special effects in a video.

- RahXephon: Candle in the Wind would be my first attempt at making an "effects" video, also working with Photoshop for some of the effects.

- IC Vs. Kitsuner - 10/15/05 was my first Iron Chef-type contest.

So, I've had a very busy 2005. Now that I've improved my computer and picked up a (much improved) Premiere Elements 2.0, I'm hoping to continue to learn and refine my technique all the way through 2006.

My thanks for the year of 2005 go out to:

- AquaSky (aka IcyCloud), who I've been learning a lot from over the year. Thank you for being so patient with me. :)
- Aieli_Ileia, whose videos I will always be a fan of.
- Decoy, editing buddy and fellow Magic fan.
- Fall_Child42, Chairman of the #AMV Iron Chef Kitchen Stadium.
- inthesto[/i], gaming fan and all-around okay guy (except for that whole MEEVRARP thing ... :? )
- jade_eyed_angel, whose FMA (and other) videos are some of the best out there bar none.
- Scandia, for providing inspiration for two of my videos and being a generally nice person.
- guy007, who I still need to ask for advice at some point on making videos with better effects.
- RutKiskasca, who provided me with some great advice ... and I hope is keeping his head down while editing from the front lines of Iraq.
- The rest of the #AMV regulars, who in and out have been generally the best conversationalists I've had the pleasure of knowing throughout the year.

Happy New Year 2006 to all! :D

Came back from the lowest of the low, decided to take things easier. mad 3 videos but could only upload one of them to the org. Had down with the sickness played over 5 times at AWA. Remastering first 3rd of videos for future DVD.

Those are my notes for the year.

2005, I spent most of my year working on AMV Hell, aside from managing the project, I made a whole crapload of videos for it. After that, I made a few short and simple videos, including some of my first Iron Chef vids. I suppose this was my "short crap" period.

Looking to 2006, I will mostly put all of this behind me, and focus on more serious, emotional, even artistic work. I will strive to complete only two of these videos, as I can forsee them being very intricate and complex.

Seeing as this was my first year in the amv community, I have no comparisons to last year hehe. I completed my first two AMV's, one of which won at Avcon and the other making the finals for Animethon. I also participated in three Iron Chef matches, winning two of the three, both of which have been in the online IC match on here.
Attended AWA as my first anime convention and fell in love with the VAT and all things convention like, though I didn't meet half as many creators as I would have liked to.

My knowledge in all things to do with creating amv's has grown immensely over this year and I have to thank AtomX for a huge chunk of that. ^^

As for personal:
Good - Moved my computer into my room and have gotten much better as an artist.
Bad - got layed off and lost a good friend.

For the upcoming year I plan to get over my recent lack of creative drive and get more video's completed, this time using more anime instead of game footage as well as everything I've learned since my last full vid, which is alot. And get another job so I can attened AWA againt and other possible cons ^^
