...no one's mentioned Frank Herbert's 'Dune' yet?

...You can all go to Hell! (OK...maybe that's a bit much, but I'm still pretty surprised.)

That said, part of me'd also be pretty interested to see how a more literal adaptation of 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' would fair as an anime.

Paradise Lost
Dante's Inferno
The Illiad
The Oddessey
Jonathan Livingston Seagull

In some ways these could make some good anime.

I'd like to see Pretty Face, D. Grayman or Deathnote made into an anime. All are excellent series and deserve some air time.

As far as normal books, if they haven't already maybe a variation of Prince and Pauper just in modern times maybe.

After seeing Gankutsuou, I'm hoping something like The Three Musketeers or The Man in the Iron Mask. Something more from Dumas.

I agree with the above poster, Dune would make a good series - it's certainly strange enough.

Has anyone seen the Moby Dick anime yet? ANN gave it a so-so review.

I'd like to see some Neal Stephenson - Snow Crash in particular would be a great anime.

There are so many scifi and fantacy books that I would like to see as anime. Some particular selections.

The "Damned" Series, by Alan Dean Foster: A Call to Arms: The False Mirror: The Spoils of War. These books are about an alien race that has been at war for a thousand years. While searching for allies, they find the human race, the most insanely warlike race they have ever found. Can we win their war or will we go to far and take over everything.

All of the "Known Universe" series by Larry Niven. Try Ringworld. Imagine a world that is a ring around a star, a radius of 93 million miles, that would make it 600 million miles around. If it is one million miles wide, with walls one thousand miles high at the edges, rotated at 770 miles per second to give one gravity of outward force and you wouldn't need a roof to hold the atmosphere. This would make a world of endless adventures, three million times the surface area of the earth. And you thought Inuyasha was a long series.

David Drake's whole "Hammers Slammers" series would be great anime in the military type. Books like At Any Price or Counting the Cost, a powerfull mercenary force that will do whatever they are paid to do. With hover tanks and power guns, it would make for great animation.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

Before the Harry Potter movies were made I always imagined the characters as anime characters  so that would be kind of cool :P

Id like to see some of the Magic: the gathering books made into an anime, cause they have a fantasy feel to them that can't be done by human acting, and usually a really good storyline.

Dune would be the best. The entire series of books has a very anime feel to it, and would come out great, especially when it's done by a studio that has experience in weird and strange anime that are heavy on story, like Bones (Rahxephon is a perfect example of that).
