i know you said i should wait, but i was bored and DLed your video...

for some reason, it won't let me op the video (says i need to download the video first, which i have done). so i'll tell you what i though here.

well, its much better than my first AMV. your action-syncing was very good, when you used it, and i felt you choose good scenes through out. my biggest complaint was that it was 170+ MBs. (the next largest AMV i have is half a minute longer and 90MBs smaller. so maybe work on a better compression next time, eh?)

overall, a good video, especially for a first. i'm looking forward to more videos!!!

Before I even watch the video: next time, compress your audio, it'll save about 45mb on a decent length vid, but i'm gonna download it anyway.

Ok, just a couple of tips: if you're compressing with XviD/DivX always do a two-pass encode, i don't know if you did or not, but it doesn't look to me like you did, and the file size certainly indicates to me that you didn't. Also: try putting your source through AVS and using some pre-processing filters such as deen and mftoon, your video could definitely use those at least. Furthermore: to decrease the filesize dramatically, reduce your frame size.

On a more purely quality based point: always try to de-interlace your footage, there was some left in in your video.

Other than the minor technical glitches, it wasn't a bad video, the concept was nice and not badly executed, with a rare band. Go you.

Well....I feel both good and bad about my first amv. and I am trully sorry about the....immense size that it is. After hearing positive opinions both in the flesh and over the internet waves I have decided to continue to make more amv's...however I guess I need to learn a thing or two when it comes to file sizes and compressions. For the time being my video is not downloadable because I'm currently re-compressing it/figuring out ways to make it smaller. So far I've got it at 86.2mib's....compared to the behemoth that it originally was...but I feel from what others have said it's still too damn big.

Zaphod: (I'm using vegas video to edit and virtual dub to compress if that helps) Anyways I figured out what you mean by resizing, de-interlacing...but (forgive me for being a stupid noob) but what do you mean by "deen and mftoon" and "two-pass encode".....also using virtualdub...how do I compress the audio...I can only figure out how to compress the video.

Once again sorry for being an idiot...but hopefully after this first mistake I wont' be condemmed to repeat it.

Dammit, man, I wanted to see it. If you have an AIM screen name, or an MSN one, I can walk you through some post processing stuff. I use Vegas myself, and I know how to fix some of your problems.

Plus, I rather like this song (one of the better songs on the album) and I want to see this video (there are only six songs with D&W, compared to the forty something we have with Blind Guardian O.o ).
