If you look at it it could be seen as unsolicited advertising (the last rule), and it did look that way to me...lets consult the admin/mods...they should be here somewhere...

I think because it's indirectly related to DVD rippers, but so is much of the software bundled in the amvapp.

My bad, I didn't realise that you could eventually navigate to the homepage (Though the link I have was a wiki page with no direct links afaik).

If you are going to say I was wrong for linking there for some playback software, then you might as well call everyone who links to google wrong since it too can be used to source such things *other* than the intended software.

I appreciate the views and wishes of Phade (and being a fansubber I have similar views on such subjects and "ethics" if you can call them that), but it's wrong to disregard a good collection of software for petty reasons.

Lets face it, it's not as though I was posting, "hay guyz I found sum naruto eps withotu subtitls for you to make amvs"

Genuine mistake, if the mods feel it warrants editing or whatever, then so be it. I of course would do so myself, but my edit button *seems* to be omitted :p

Well, he linked to a WIKI page on a site that also happens to do those things. but he linked to a WIKI page about a CODEC PACK to be used for PLAYBACK. If this is a problem, we might as well kill the AMVApp TOO!

If linking to a wiki page on the same domain as other stuff of questionable integrity, you might as well say we can't link to pages on geocities and the like.

Oh, and we can't link to www.amvhell.com because they (OMG!!) have torrents.

See, rules cannot always be black and white. There are occasional grey areas to rules.

why bother, when ffdshow can decode almost all of that (not sure on the Mkv stuff) as a single software intity, without having to worry about some codec pack with many different codecs half of which you don't even need, that usually ends up breaking your codec system?
