I was a lot more creative back then. I miss that.
Me you both... the technical aspects of it all can be a strain on me sometimes, and I find myself looking back at my first creations (which are not on the org) and remembered how much they seemed to have heart to them, though they looked comparatively worse than what I have now...

Even the videos that I thought didn't turn out so good then I can go back now and have a good time. It's those memories that are in my head that makes me enjoy them. Only I know what meanings I intended when I did something. As long as I don't forget that I can be happy with them. The only thing that does get to me a little is that my top videos here are the ones that are quite old and technically crappier than my newer videos. It does make me wonder if I am doing something different than I did back then. Oh well. I still like them.
Again, you share my sentimonies... I know there were mistakes, and sometimes cringe-worthy mistakes, but at least for me, there was a lot of attempts at being 'creative' about the story telling anyway...

I always go back to my original aim which was that I made these vids primarily for my enjoyment... and at least in that regard, I can be satisfied enough.

Well, rather than go on my usual five page rant, I'm going to keep this simple.

My videos are stepping stones. I make one, I see my mistakes, and I try to do better next time. I don't always succeed. I've made ten videos in total, but I haven't been able to make anything quite as good as my seventh. Like arigatomina, I feel that I've lost some of my editing "innocence" over time. I have ideas now that are far better than any I have come up with before, but I've lost my interest in making them.

Occasionally, though, I do watch a marathon of my old videos. While I can't say that I laugh, I do cringe from time to time. Then, I just say "stepping stones" to myself and I feel better again.

Ditto, for us as well, even the ones that make us roll on the floor, and like it was pointed out in this thread, there is an inocence to them. As an editor, I often have to remind myself why I do this, because its easy to loose what first brought me to editing. Which would be why none of those first videos will ever get deleted, remade......or released. LOL

don't know about innocense  but each of my videos show a distinct quality that's at least 100% better then the last. I'm gonna miss that when I get better.

Roflcopter, Yeah Brujeria can do that to you..

OT: I like to see how I have progressed over the years and I went from total Random to well now Im trying to take my videos into a more technical point of view, I dont mean effects, just put more meaning to the death metal over violence.

Good Times..
 Same here. I remember when I first learned how to put my videos on Kazaa, and the first person that downloaded it - THAT was a big deal back then (but was it Kazaa or Morpheus?).

I was too lazy back then to make short, detailed summaries for each video, so I 'pimped' everything in the file names. Unfortunately, when I uploaded those videos here, I didn't bother changing anything ^^;

A year ago is "back in the day"? Geez. :P (And am I the only person who likes to have a copy of all their finished works back to day one? Don't answer that.)

I still watch my stuff now and then, back to #5 (early 2003), some more than others. I can see giant problems that I cannot believe I didn't catch at the time, but I also still see whatever it is that got me excited about that idea in the first place. Even if it wasn't carried out all that well. And I use music that I love, so there's always that.

And now there's a certain measure of nostalgia, like "Oh yeah, I remember how great it was to finally get THAT to work" and "This is the first time I figured out how to do such-and-such."

I don't see the point in wringing my hands and wailing over the bad decisions I made then. I know I wasn't that great; few people are, when they start out. That's what a learning curve is like. I've learned from my mistakes, and moved on to bigger and better mistakes. :) It's not that big a deal to me. And with that aside, we're left with music/visuals I love and usually with good memories of the process, and those are all good things.

So I watch them, but I don't laugh. That newbie I was had a lot of fun, and I don't think the slightly older newbie that I am now needs to cast aspersions on that.

We only laugh because we have never in all our browsing, anywhere seen two videos that were worse then our first two........and that is the god honest truth.

But as funny and aweful as they are I love them......one even has the VCR play arrow at one point hehehehehe Tears stream down my face everytime I see that.

It's the looking back that makes you realise how much you've grown; and seeing others work - to see how far you still have to go.
