Interesting video. I'm not really into shounen-ai myself, but honestly, I didn't really think anything was too hard-core anyway. You were going for the humorous WTF reaction, and that's what you achieved. And you made it because it was something YOU wanted to see- always a good motivation. ^_^ I actually sort of liked the thick lines- it gave the video a very unique look, especially in the Kenshin sequence. My roommate was an animation student, so I understand completely how much work must have gone into this. Great work!

Would they be listed under 'original animation'? I didn't actually *search* on the org. I just figured if anyone had done it, the vids would be well known (and I'd have heard of at least one by now). I'll look for the Utena one. I've actually seen that anime. ^ ^Zarxrax wrote:I've seen a number of original animated videos before, most aren't quite of this level of quality though. I know there are a few posted here on the org. In particular, I remember someone remade the Azumanga opening with Utena characters.

Yes! At least, that's what it was supposed to be when I started. It ended up being an amv instead - because I was too much of a cowardly prude to draw in the porno bits and pieces.SuperFusion wrote:what the hell was that, gay porno?

I've heard back from a few of the yaoi fans I made the vid for, so I'm pretty sure my target audience can get the serious 'angsty romance' theme. The reason it's funny is because my animation skills suck, and the scenes are unreal for most people (I can entirely imagine the IY section in a fanfic, but seeing it in a video is absurd - hence hilariouslol..... I thought it was pretty cool, but I think you over did it with all that raping shiz... I found it to be more of the comedy genre then romance and serious... I was pretty much like "wtf.." through the entire video.. the good way.. lol

I haven't seen any fan-animation, so I was working blind. Mostly I was going according to the feedback my friends on deviantart gave me - they've been beta'ing my frames since a lot of them are much better at fanart. I'll have to leave the 'hand-drawn' to the professionals, though. ^_^;; I'm not that committed and I like the digital look. But I'll definitely make the outlines thinner in the future (and maybe brownish gray so they don't stand out as much - I'll experiment with it).Otohiko wrote:Very neat. Very neat. Certainly the best fan-animation I've seen to date in an otherwise more or less conventional AMV. The complaints as far as the the outlines are definitely valid though - and in general, I think the art would've benefitted from a more "organic" hand-drawn look, whereas here it was pretty obviously all-digital (and thus the outlines, which also didn't help).
I'm glad you like that. ^__^ I actually had experience with that before I started this. I've been playing with some sailormoon transformation (fan animated) since last year, so I've picked up all sorts of little things I like. This was the first time I got to use them in an actual video, so it was a lot of fun. Some of the animation/motion/overlay tricks were top-notch. Really shows a good sense of style outside of just static pics.
It's okay. I don't understand how anyone could like Inuyasha and Kagome as a couple, and millions of people like that pairing.And... yea, I'll never, ever fully understand the whole 'yaoi pairings' thing, but what the heck![]()

You liked the outlines! Thanks for telling me. ^__^ I like them, too. I think they should have been a little thinner, but I like them being bold. That's the way I do fanart, my only 'style'. This vid was a lot of tedious work, but I was highly motivated. I really wanted to see the finished project, and get experience enough to tackle more difficult ideas I've had for a year or two. I'm not quite there, but this vid was a big step.Solaria735 wrote:Interesting video. I'm not really into shounen-ai myself, but honestly, I didn't really think anything was too hard-core anyway. I've seen that before with the effect score, it shows a third decimal above the highest possible. I don't think it actually means anything, just an odd bug.DJ_Izumi wrote:I'm still downloading the video but I've noticed that the effects score for this video 10.001 Uhh.... What's with that?
Whoot! Glad I'm not the only perve around.O_O
