I always think this whenever I see post like these, so I figured I'd say something this time.
#1,
#2, If you realy don't think the video is good but want it to be, then I'd suggest posting it as a WIP in the Opinions thread asking for others opinions on how you could make it better before even releasing it. This has 2 benefits. Its not released yet, so you have a chance to go back and make it better, and 2, other people know about benefit #1 and thus will be happier about helping you, since theres a higher chance the comments will actually be put to good use.
#3, If you said that first comment to get sympathy, or something like that, then thats not gonna work here ;p You need to sell your video, as in give us a reason to be interested in downloading it. When so many new videos release a day, hardly any of us has the time to download them all, so we'll normally only grab what interests us, or what looks good, or from creators we already know are good. Now if you said "I worked many hours on this video to make it the best that I could, but I'm still not totally happy with it, Give me your opinions on how it came out" or something to that effect, at least we automatically know effort was spent on it, so more of us will give it a chance. ^_^ Anyway....
Alright now that I got that off my chest, I'll actually download this now and give my opinion on it.
#1,
I guarantee you this sentence right here automatically turned off 90% of your potential viewers from even giving this video a chance. If you have no confidence in your own video, why should we care about it? its obviously going to be trash. (note i'm not intending to flame your video directly, I havn't even watched it yet, just giving what is probably everyones thought process when they see this type of post, before even seeing the video ;p)I know its not very good, so yeah.

Well, it wasn;t "trash" ;p but, there was alot of technical issues. I didn;t like the transition effect, and you seemed to go overboard with the textbook effects in whatever program you used to make this. flashy isn't always better ;p You had some descent timming, but the framerate on some of the scenes also seemed screwy. Sometimes it felt like my video program froze up, especially on some of the transitions. Could be an error in the encoding part. Also, next time it would be a good idea to crop out the subs, sube = bad, unless they are purposefully created and used to tell a story in the video, or for some other purpose (like a news casters name on a news report or something) Also the Divx logo is just unprofessional, especially when its easy to turn it off in the divx settings window.
All the technicall issues aside, it did perk my interest in this series.
Oh yea, the violence in this might be bordering on too much for hosting on local... a Mod would have to make that decission.

Well, thank you for your opinion. I admit I didn't have much confidence because I only have Windows Movie Maker, I cant afford to buy a program thing just yet and the series is only 5 episodes so far since its new so I didn't have much to work with at all, I just woke up this morning with an urge to make one for some reason. I dunno how to crop out subtitles though which is why they were not, I really wanted them out though.
Is there any Free downloadable program I could get thats better than Windows Movie Maker?

Also, I forgot to mention, I only spent about 2 hours making it. Someone told me I should have spent more time on it, but I was to excited, I wanted to have something as a start point. Now, I have learned a few things and I have confidence my videos will get better and better, I already have two more planned. I would just rather get a better program before I spend so much time on something.

There aren't free downloadable ones for what I know, only trial versions. I think you should try all of them before buying one, because they are very expensive, it's almost a life choiceHoly Diver wrote:... I cant afford to buy a program thing just yet...

actually cuting the subs is quite easy using a free program called Virtualdub. You can use the bultin filters in virtualdub, but I prefer to use the scripting software called AVIsynth to do all my modifications to the video, but the scripting interface could be a bit complicated for people not too savy with programming or scripting of any kind. you can do alot more with AVIsynth, but Virtualdub is easier interface. You can get both of these programs bundled together in a nice install package along with a bunch of other usefull tools from AD's Visual and audio guides(theres a link to AMVApp up at the top) and the guides themselves will help you figure out how to use them.
In this particular case, to crop the subs, you'd export your final project out of wmm, open it in virtualdub, open the filters box, select the crop filter, and crop the bottom of the picture up until the subs are gone, then save it to a new AVI. (thats the virtual dub method)

never thought of using the mindless sheep public as beta testers for your video. I don't suggest it (but maybe once in a blue moon)Bakadeshi wrote:#2, If you realy don't think the video is good but want it to be, then I'd suggest posting it as a WIP in the Opinions thread asking for others opinions on how you could make it better before even releasing it.
