You caught right on my first reaction.
I really liked the editing (loved it in some places), it's just interesting to watch how many partial clips can fit on a screen at once, and the way they shiver and dart and split in time to the music. It's neat on a purely aesthetical scale. I also like the song, so it's a nice little trance state - watch the beats and blurs and drone out with the cool music.
I have to admit, I was expecting a tribute, rather than a pure action sync (+ effects) video. It reminds me of DBZ Conclusion (which I also liked for the beat sync and the effects). Fast forwarding is a nice way to cap a long series, and this video does it. I do think if it had paused on some of the 'fanon' favorite scenes, it could have gotten more of that nostalgic feeling - added some emotion by letting the viewer breathe in what he's looking at. But with this song and the established pace (especially number of clips per second), I don't think that would have been possible.
I like this video as a cool effects vid that displays a steady, and high, sync while compressing a long series into 10 minutes. If not for the b/w cell section, I'd never have taken this for a multi-editor project. And since I don't remember anyone promising this video would be a nostalgic DBZ tribute, I have no complaints about my lack of emotional response.
It gets a "cool" from me, and props for the wild editing. As a fanboy
(?) of the anime, it's too fast for me to follow, but as an editor, it's an excellent video.
