Selection of Editing Keyboards

for those of us lazy, or forgetful of our hotkeys.

Cheap $20 keyboard + a highlighter = ?

I dunno, these do seem neat on principle (My teacher has one for Final Cut Pro at school), but it's a bit too expensive for color-coded keys.

I looked at these a while back, then settled on a $10 mini-keyboard and a middle-grade mouse.

PI Engineering makes a line of programmable keypads that look more interesting. The cost of these is high and they do take up deskspace - except for the foot pedal thing.

Hahaha
Pretty neat.
The things they come up with nowadays.

Yeah it feels too expensive for a customized keyboard, but it'll be really cool to have... and a wee bit awkward to use o.0

X-keys Foot Pedal
* 3 pedals keep your hands free while you click, shift, enter, or perform any operation from the keyboard.

A Jog and Shuttle would be an interesting thing to try, but do people here really have that much need to speed up the editing process?

Personally my actual editing time is dwarfed by the time I spend planing preping and tweaking. The only thing I could see using it for is for seizure type videos with lots of quick, frustrating timing.

I used a jog wheel at Anime Central's AMV Iron Chef competition to scan through footage quickly and precisely. It's very difficult to get the same effect using a keyboard or mouse: a mouse, while allowing you to scan quickly through footage, will often skip over frames unless you have excellent hand control, and keyboard control in most programs will only go one frame at a time -- you can't speed it up or slow it down at whim. You can, however, do all that with a jog wheel.
