Boredom Projects?
Have you ever, out of sheer boredom, opened up your editor, and just chose a random song and any anime that you happened to have Lying around and just started editing? Then, about fourty minutes later and ten seconds into the editing noticed that it was actually going well? This happened to me. Kind of strange how it happened.
This happened to anyone else?

Yeah, once at like 1 a.m. I got the bright idea to do a gag video to Flock of Seagulls. It amused me muchly, but it wasn't something I'd release as a "real" AMV.
It's fun to mess with things, but unfortunately the AMV community discourages that (you get disqualified from the VCAs if you make anything involving music + anime and don't list it on the org). Necessary evil, I guess.

...well, yeah, but I don't like lying. And that's the policy, no experimenting, so that's that.Scintilla wrote:Only if you actually tell them (unchecking the box), of course.SarahtheBoring wrote:(you get disqualified from the VCAs if you make anything involving music + anime and don't list it on the org)

My Station Wagons vid was made because I didn't feel like watching Predator with the rest of my dormmates, I just opened up Premiere and had at it

Well, all that means is you have to list it. You don't have to actually upload your biggest fiacos... Though I think it is a waste of space and of AMV watchers time to force them to divulge every single one of thier little experiments.SarahtheBoring wrote:Yeah, once at like 1 a.m. I got the bright idea to do a gag video to Flock of Seagulls. I'd still have to deal with the stigma of having done something "lame", even as a momentary joke to entertain myself, and the resulting loss of credibility. Because everything is given the same weight/importance, whether that be something you whipped up in an hour to have fun or something you spent two months on. The DB doesn't differentiate.Tono_Fyr wrote: Well, all that means is you have to list it. You don't have to actually upload your biggest fiacos... I'm not exactly in line for the VCAs anyway, so it's a nonissue with me. I do feel bad for people who have to either lie or pretend they made Big Important Projects out of momentary experiments in order to get right with the Powers that Be.
