And this doesn't have to be a bad thing - low star scores don't have to mean anything about how good a vid is.
You have to take into account the genre (action/drama/romance) and who likes that genre (there are usually fewer females here than males, so if the genre appeals to males, chances are the score will reflect that).
You have to think about the anime used (popular anime come and go - make a Naruto vid, or a YYH vid - even if it's a bad vid, it'll probably have a higher star score than your vids for lesser-known anime - and if it's a dbz vid chances are the score will be lower since it's an unpopular anime that people go out of their way to diss).
The song is definitely a big factor but it's not just whether it's a popular song - pop songs tend to appeal to the younger crowd, especially the females, so if it's a romantic vid with a pop song and a pairing the girls like, chances are the girls will be the ones downloading the vid - and giving it high scores for having something they like. While the older crowd (and most of the guys) will avoid it - meaning you don't get the low "I don't like this" scores.
Consider who's downloading the vid. If you warn that only certain people will like the vid, chances are only those people will download it - and if you appealed to that target audience, they'll probably score it high. If you don't warn and everyone downloads it, only the target audience will appreciate it and you'll get a majority low score from the rest.
A lot of things go into low scores besides the quality of the video. Once you start considering the different elements to why people give the scores they do to particular vids, you can predict what score you'll end up with before the video is even available for download. No, it's nothing to worry about - just something interesting for those who like the think about audience reaction (no need to think with the reviews since people tell you why they score what they do - with the stars, thinking is required).
