  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.

Embryonic Productions - "All is Full of Love"

Post by Poetic_Kaos » Mon Oct 18, 2004 5:29 pm

Anime: The Serial Experiments: Lain
Genre: Drama, Serious
Songs: Bjork - "All is Full of Love"; Olive - "You're Not Alone"

This is easily the best video I have ever made. I am really a rather random editor. That is to say most my videos only follow a shallow concept. After looking back on my previous work I saw they are little more than special effect shows. This is the first time I made a video that contains a strong plot. The project has exceeded my expectations in every way possible from story to effects; it really is a complete package, and is the first video I think worthy to enter in to a contest (looking for one).

I Hope it stays on your hard drive for an extended period of time :).

I wonder why you chose to compress the video to WMV even though you edited with Premiere? This is not to say that the quality was bad, on the contrary this is probably the best .wmv file I've seen. But I believe that it could have been even better.

The combination had potential, but I have to say that your use of effects was really inconsistent. I didn't like how you synced the deep bass beats in the beginning with zooms and then forgot about it altogether. The last part of the video just before the end credits was a lot better. And the lip sync in the middle where the mouth occupied 1/3 of the screen was quite creepy. :)

1) I could not get Premiere to export the video in anything but wmv. All the other codecs were corrupted, etc. Believe me I tried several things to convert the file but none panned out.

2) The spherize effect was only during the first lip sequence. It was there to add a sense of motion so that the lip would have more of an effect. When the first lip sequence was over I dropped the effect. 15 seconds was enough it was either that are continue it till the second lip sequence. That would have made it almost 1:15 seconds long. I learned from previous video not to over use and an effect. The spherize effect was not forgotten but replaced with a simple synced scene change that match the lyrics.

Heh, I just start to come back to the org and look who posts a new vid :)

Good job on it, you used some great effects and caught the feel of bjork in a lot of it. You also used some effects that felt out of place and you didn't carry the feel through the whole vid. On a whole, much much improvement since you first one.

I'll try to post a review for you that goes somewhat in depth with how I felt about the vid.
