You call that anime? ["non-traditional" anime art]
In some animes I have seen I question whether it was an actuall anime or just an american cartoon. Also remember this is based pruly off of animation, and I know that each artist has his or her own way of drawing, but sometimes their animation is so off from what I am use to seeing that I really don't think its anime.
For example Lupin the Third (but I hate that anime so that might be my bias)
And Hellsing , beleive it or not, but when ever they do close ups on the character's face they look sort of like an american 80's style animation.
So, what animes did you question?

Dude, if Lupin III, Hellsing, and The Big O (Batman-style as it is) aren't anime, then I don't know what the frick anime is.
Anime is Japanese animation. If it's simply "anime-style animation" that is anime, Teen Titans is an anime, and that's certainly not the case. Anime is diverse, it's not a style of drawing. Pokemon, DBZ, Lupin III, Monster Rancher, it's all anime. So is Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Akira, Galaxy Express 999, Naruto, RahXephon, Sazae-san, and tons of other stuff.
^ Sorry if that sounded like a rant

But... rereading your post, I guess that's not really what you were going for, heheh.... *rubs back off neck nervously*
As for things I've questioned... I can't recall any. Er... I think I remember wondering whether Beyblade was anime or not, but I don't even remember what that show looked like.

It looks ugly, but VERY definitely anime-style. I questioned Samurai Pizza Cats (long after the fact... I don't believe I'd even heard of anime at the time).HeartbreakerByZep wrote:B

Only other animes I've seen which were not really standard anime-style (at all, I mean), either I already knew it was an anime, or I saw it subbed, leaving little room for doubt.

meh i dont really consider transformers anime becouse it is american made or is it? im pretty sure it is w/e. as for a kind of off topic thing that i have been flamed for in the past. i dont like how lots of anime is useing more and more cg shit in it. for exapmle the fire and the top in samuri x, the space casino in bebop and alot of shit in gits sac like the cars in some shots. it just pisses me off becouse i hate cg movies and stuff idk why but i just really really hate it . i think anime should stick to animation and leave cg out.

Agreed, almost. Some is okay, just when they go over board like in last exile. I also agree with your cowboy bepop comment. they should only use it if they have to, and last exile might use their's for artisitic purposes which I understand, but still don't like it.madmag9999 wrote:meh i dont really consider transformers anime becouse it is american made or is it? im pretty sure it is w/e. as for a kind of off topic thing that i have been flamed for in the past. i dont like how lots of anime is useing more and more cg shit in it. for exapmle the fire and the top in samuri x, the space casino in bebop and alot of shit in gits sac like the cars in some shots. it just pisses me off becouse i hate cg movies and stuff idk why but i just really really hate it . i think anime should stick to animation and leave cg out.

Not really. I am just talking about when an anime is in the anime section of a store, yet the animation in the anime isn't the usual anime style, but is something. It doesn't matter what courtry its from, it just if its trying to pass it self off as anime, but rather isn't in the anime style we are all so familiar with.bum wrote:does it realy matter what country something was made in ?
