Transfer video from a Camcorder to a computer to make a DVD.

Hi everyone my question is im trying to transfer my camcorder videos to my computer so I can edit then and other cool stuff, but any way I sont know how or wht do I need to do the transfer, also i want to transfer my VHS tapes to my computer so I can burned, but dont know wht type of hardware I need wht cables ect......

i think most mid-level editors can capture edit and burn to dvd such as ulead, studio 9, and imovie<--needs idvd

if u have vegas + dvd u can also capture edit and burn

and for all ure vhs to dvd needs

Ulead Video Studio and DVD Movie Factory can capture video and burn DVDs. Here's an article on how to get the video onto your computer.Getting Video Into My Computer

Pretty much any video editing program should have capture ability, so assuming that you have that covered up, youll need some ports and cables.

Youll need a Firewire IEEE1394 port on your computer.
You'll also need a DV to IEEE1394 cable.
Camcorder.

Hook up cable with computer and camcorder and then you can use the capture program to transfer video into your harddrive.

Hell if you dont have a capture program, VirtualDubMOd has one

thx for the info, thats wht i was looking for cables the other bs. Hey hook me up with Ulead sofware, burned it for me, cuz is spencive and i just waste $400.00 on adobe after effects, it hurtsss. Hook me up

Hmmm... You wont need to buy Ulead if youre buying it all just for capture features. Like I said, free progs like VDubMOd can capture for free, and from the looks, if you bought After Effects, dont you already have a video editing program to use?

nope not editing program, Im buying all this stuff cuz im making a movie, and i need this software and hardware to make all the special effects, but I still a grass hopper on this ....

if ure just starting out wmm2 isnt a bad choice to look at cause its FREE

btw after fx u can get for like 200ish for students

WMM2 dam im far behind, but ow at soon I get back home I will keep doing my AMV and start filming short movies with my friends, so sad that I have to wait a year from now....
