I think one of the most important things is to differentiate technical and artistic bounds and benchmarks, and external vs. intrinsic motivation.

For instance, my technical benchmarks are stuck somewhere in early 2001, albeit with somewhat better compression. I'm really not interested in making the next RahXephon technowonder. Technically, I'm only using about 20% of my software/hardware's possible features, and it'll be a wonder if I ever use over 30% of that. My artistic benchmarks exist entirely in my own head. That is, the only measure of success for me is how well I hold up to whatever challenge it was my brain threw at me. Until my brain gets bored, I don't think I'll stop making new AMV's to challenge myself.

Artistically, there's no real limit. Until there's at least several AMV's to every song in existence, I don't think we need to worry about the good ideas running out in general, even if specific people might run out of them.

Technically, doesn't Moore's Law still hold true? If so, I shudder at the thought of the potential fanciness of things to come. The next question is, do we want it to... meh, probably
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

What I meant was that if I get feedback, yeah, I feel Great!.

However...

If the feedback I get says they didn't like it, I feel just as horrible as if I was the one who failed the project. I want people to enjoy them, and I feel like I've failed what I set out to do if I find someone has hated it.

Let me mention something that is yet to be done.

You know the movie 'The Princess Bride'? Yes. That one. It is in need of a trailer. Preferably several, cut together by the editor, because the real ones suck.

bote wrote:Eh, as far as effects go, AMV's are still in the bottom, NOT the top. As for story, that is the aspect that has been present since the beggining of AMV-ing. You cannot "top" a certain video story with another. That's the way I see it. "Center of the sun" best story video so far? You've got to be kidding me  . Maybe for you it is, but for me...nope. Euphoria & Virtua Anime highest effects level? Have you seen "Olin" and "Mystery Conundrum"? Or even "Shounen Bushidou"? When it's about new and better effecting you shouldn't worry about it at all. The effects in AMV's have just started to develop.

Much love to Bote!!!

Hmm, I'm sure this sort of thread has existed before or something. The topic has come up plenty of times I know.

Anyway, as for "what's left to do", it's the same as any other form of art. After centuries of hundreds of styles and who knows how many thousands or millions of painters...and that x100 different paintings that exist, people still manage to create new and interesting work in the present and forseeable future. They aren't even close to running out of ideas, are they? World has a whole lot of stuff to paint.

Ever really take a look at how much anime exists? Then you have new anime being created all the time. Same with music. Millions of songs exist in the world, with many more being created all the time. In other words, we are not at risk of running low on basic sources to work with.

Now, I'll give some numbers to ponder. Lets take a sample of 200 anime series and movies. We make some videos with the theme of violence, each having parts of 3 different anime in it. That becomes 1,313,400 unique videos. Not enough? Lets assume each of those combinations are edited in 3 different ways. You now have 3, 940,200 possible unique videos about one theme. Include the themes of comedy and love, and the number triples. We have 11,820,600 UNIQUE VIDEOS that can be made. Assuming 90% of those videos are crap, we still have 1,182,060 *good* videos to be made. The current total count on the org is ~37,000 as of this posting.

There's a whole hell of a lot more to be done before we give up. :D

Okay, yes I'm certain that you can edit those in all those possible ways. However, I'm asking here what is there left to accomplish, something that can't(or, to phrase it better, are too lazy[/i] to do.

Anyways, I saw those digital effect videos you mentioned earlier. DrrngedKreation's, for some reason, I don't no why, I just felt unimpressed. When I saw U4EA I was like 'Whoa...WOW! Holy...SHIT!'.

I have two theories about this:

1. When you read the description for U43A, all you see is 'This was quite a technical acheivement for myself'. I was like 'Okay, that sounds cool.' However, when I read Drrnged's video description, it mentioned that there was a number of 3D boards and films being displayed at different angles. I went into the video expecting to see something like many TV clips flying around, and wow, I did.

2. In U43A, I saw things I had never seen on television before. Moving sepia's, tinted radar's, disapperaing/reappearing images, and it was all new to me. However I constantly see commericals, music videos, and movie that have computer generated boards with movies playing on them.
