Simultaneous download block?

Post by DarkNinja75 » Mon Jul 26, 2004 6:28 pm

If I'm downloading 2 local vids from the Org, and I click on the link to download a 3rd local vid, the page never loads. Is there a restriction on the Org that only allows you to download two vids at a time?

Not a restriction on the .org, it's a restriction in Internet Explorer. I can't remember where in the options the setting is to fix that. I know I can only download 3-4 videos at a time before my bandwidth starts clogging anyway.

Wrong. It's not an IE restriction, it's an Org restriction. It's used to prevent bandwidth hogging. I've had a lot of downloads going with IE on dialup (I think it was 4-5) and sure it was lagging me, but I got it all in due time. There is no way to change this, except if derobert, AbsoluteDestiny or paizuri change the coding, which I think is just deroberts thing, AD and pai handle other stuff.

Whenever someone asks why can't I download more than 2 vids at once using IE, it's not IE. It's the Org and it won't change unless we get a shitload of bandwidth with unlimited upstream (I can't remember what it's at right now).

Yea, mine usually tops out at 3 - but I think I've had two in some cases. I don't know what the variable here is or whatever

Maybe there's a difference for donators, too?

Using Firefox I can only do two at a time. I had a bunch going when I used to use Opera... I think... haven't used that in a while though.

For Firefox, you can change the number of persistent HTTP connections by

- go to about:config
- filter by network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server
- change it
