Need help finding USB --> FIREWIRE hub

Post by AMVfreak » Mon Jun 14, 2004 8:22 pm

hey
ive been needing a firewire IEEE1394 to connect my ccomputer with ym camcorder to digitally edit my video
unfortunalely i dont have any firewire ports, only USB 2.0s

i have a DV cable that can connect with firewire and a both sided firewire cable
well somehow, i need to find a way to connect my camcorder through the USB port through firewire, using my double sided firewire cable and DV cable

can anyone tell me any cheap prodcuts that can work out with my firewire cable extensions that can somehow connect to my USB
or an IEEE1394 to USB cable

*for example i can buy a USB hub that has a firewire port (but so far i cant find any cheap ones, cause hubs are pricy)

thanks

You might find this more useful (or cheaper) than a product you are describing.

See the three ports in the picture? Those are the three external ones. There's one on the card itself (i.e. internal to the case) that is usually for connecting to a port on the front of the case. You probably don't need to worry about it.

If you're using WinME or WinXP, you should not have to install any drivers. Each card is different, but every installation that I've done did not need IEEE1394 drivers. They were already part of the operating system. Still, read the instructions before doing anything.

Here's some info about installing PCI cards:

Tip: don't drop any screws into the PC. And if you do, get it out before turning the power on.

if uv never put a card in your system i suggest u follow a few simple steps:
1. turn off the system
2. uplug it from the power befor doing anything
3. slide the card in firmly but not so hard as to break it
4. if its an agp card or ram make sure to open the latches befor instalataion and close them after
5. screw the card in
6. make sure u didnt drop anything anywhere in the system
7. plug it back in
8. power it on
