Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Yea, that part has people kind of divided, some like them, some hate them.

My excuse has always been - 'well, what else could I put there?' The part was definitely asking for something, and as is always the case with me, I did the simplest thing possible, for better or worse

Anyway, thanks! 8)

I'm a person that likes simpler videos with less effects and more clip timing then effects timing. Probably why I didn't like that part.

Well, there's something we have in common

Yea, I too like simple videos. But, sometimes it just seems like I have to get into the fancier stuff. I don't really like to, but it's hard to resist, especially when the music seems to be asking for it.

Anyway, thanks again.

The problem with synching artificially added effect filters as opposed to animated action is that it loses the feeling you receive while watching the video.

Also, it isn't as impressive. Action synching > filter synching; in my opinion.

Filter synching is basically flashing on beat and the like. I find it much more amazing to see the animation move to the beat than a simple opacity band.

However, I am not against effects whatsoever. Almost opposite, in fact. If both story telling and effects are used simultaneously, you have a deadly concoction equivalent to sauce (effects) on spaghetti (plot). Although it can be possible for you to have only one of these two ingredients; the spaghetti (plot) can be digested easily on its own while sauce (effects) conveys a negative taste alone.

I have yet to see a video that truly uses nothing but effects. Yes, I know what video you're thinking of.

Believe it or not, but there is plot in those effects-filled AMV's. It's just how much is weighed on the Spaghetti vs. Sauce ratio scale.

Yep, exactly. I'm learning though, that I can say. That's why it's called 'trial and error' Although I don't neccesarily think there's any real error here, just a choice that wasn't something everyone liked.

Anyway, I have and will be pursuing action sync over effect sync with a passion, you can be sure of that

Actually, I even forgot about that - don't worry there, I don't chase down people who can't get me a free op - especially if they got work+their own AMV projects. I'd rather you finish your own new projects than write about this old heap of... footage and stuff
