I think everyone is a little competative even if only doing this for fun. :? We still want our videos to be enjoyed by others. It hurts to feel people didn't like our efforts. I entered one of my videos at the Anime Detour con, not thinking I would win anything, I know my limitations. When the contest came around I was still very wound up, hoping that mine would be good enough. :) I didn't win anything, but the people cheered mine just as much as the others, what a great feeling. :D So even if we just do this for fun, we still are looking for a little thubs up.

If you concider that three stars is average, then a rating between two and four will be most common. Of the videos I've put on this site, the one I like the most has one of the lowest star ratings. Funny how people think, they should all think like me, right. Oh well, if you all thought like me, this would be a very boring site.

Don't worry to much about ratings, most great artists are only recognized after they're dead.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

Come and join us on the tiny but fun forum at http://www.allanime.org

I think everything I do is crap, but only cause I have to stare at it for so long before tossing it towards the unfortunate viewers. That's assuming I actually finish something and don't just give up on it, allowing it to fester on my drive space.

I get a hearty chuckle when people put me on their "best creator" lists (*cough* Wonka), but I know deep down they're just on some high-octane drugs.

I think you have it all backward.

The worst possible think you could do would be to create something with the popularity and scores of say... Euphoria. Then you would be so intimidated by your own godly high scores and fame that you would start questioning every new idea and throw away tons of fun good ideas.

If you want to be competitive, fine have at it, but don't be afraid of the learning curve. On top of that, what's the point of having a hobby that leaves you stressed all the time?

Just say F-it, and make a can can dance video using tentacle demons or something and have fun.

Hey otaku, i saw your death of an amv video and I thought it was funny. It was alittle cheesy, but you did do something out of the ordinary.

Dont let it sweat you, i get 2's, and 1's all the time. But when someone accually submits opinions, i get 8's and higher. People just give low grades with star scale cause they are sometimes too lazy to click the drop menu and select a number. Dont quit man, you'll get better, TRUST ME :D

Depends upon a person. I get all the editing stuff very competitive (wanting to be the best and stuff), but I have no intention of eating my toe nails and pulling my hair over a line of text or image that I see on the screen. If I ever felt any considerable ammount of stress I'd stop editing. I never rush nor do I need to. If I have problems pulling off something I imagined at the moment, I simply leave it be and do something else. Even though I spend a lot of time sitting, I spend even more time exercising.

This is a great hobby, but a very unhealthy one at that to. I recommend everyone to have some other hobby besides this  . Any sport could suffice and at least you won't have bone problems after few years, which will happen eventualy if you overexagerate.

Like plenty of people here, I've gotten lousy scores myself. I have witnessed some people giving me only 1 star for one of my vids. But a lot of times my scores fluctuate. My average had gotten as low as 2.2 to as high as 3.6.

Speaking for myself, I make videos to simply just enhance the music. To me music is more important than the visuals because: 1) You can listen to music without video, but you can't watch videos without the audio. 2) I can listen to music plenty more times than I can watch a video.
