Mecha Anime
Would anyone like to give a list of Mecha Anime?
I'm an avid fan but I would love to watch more! I'm trying to find out what the past Mecha Anime has been as well as upcomming Mecha Anime.
Any help would be appreciative!

I couldn't come up with anything, so....uh...yea, my signature.

Recommendable mecha titles:
-Mobile Suit Gundam (0079...original...try not to let the older animation throw you, it's worth it)
-Zeta Gundam (coming here later this year)
-Gundam 0080: War In The Pocket (light on mechs in and of itself, but still a good title)
-SDF Macross (A bit of a pain to find uncut, but I suppose, in a pinch, you could use Robotech...although I'd still recommend looking up the differences so you know)
-Macross The Movie: Do You Remember Love? (OK, you're gonna have to go HK on this one...as US licensing goes, this one's trapped in limbo)
-Macross Plus
-Aura Battler Dunbine
-The Vision of Escaflowne
-Getter Robo: Armageddon (aka Shin Getter Robo) (...assuming you're OK with a little bit of super robot cheeze)
-Martian Successor Nadesico
-The Big O
-Full Metal Panic
and
-Mazinkaiser (again, if you're averse to cheeziness, might want to forget this one...but if you're OK with it, this could prove entertaining)
There's definitely more out there...these are just some I can safely say, I'd recommend seeing
(p.s. And before anyone points out EVA being left out of this list, I honestly don't consider the Evangelions mecha)

Yep, the animation is quite dated, and probably the main turn off factor for this title, however the story is excellent.Heero_Yuy84 wrote:Recommendable mecha titles:

Wonder if for a Gundam aniversary project they'd go in and reanimate (i.e. new footage like in the Gundam PS2 games) it, but keep the story intact.....
YES! Macross is freakin' awsome! Not Robotech, MACROSS!Heero_Yuy84 wrote: -SDF Macross (A bit of a pain to find uncut, but I suppose, in a pinch, you could use Robotech...although I'd still recommend looking up the differences so you know)
Actually, Animeigo made a U.S. release with digitally restored footage.
I think you can still get it at most Anime stores, or even at conventions, but as said, it might be tricky to get and/or pricey.
Well, you don't have to bootleg to get this title.....but it will cost an exorbitant amount to get. (region 2, or multi region player + $80 movie, yes Japanese anime movies are hella expensive)Heero_Yuy84 wrote: -Macross The Movie: Do You Remember Love? The YF-19 Excalibur has been a favorite of mine. Now if only they'd make a strike armor version......Heero_Yuy84 wrote: -Macross Plus
Yes, good titles.Heero_Yuy84 wrote: -The Big O

FMP is more a tech mech, while Big O is more a "steam" mech.
Also, how about newcomers Gravion, and Godannar? (though, they are the modern equivalent of the cheesy robots, but still cool)
Or oldschool power house Hades Project Zeorymer?

They're organic, not mechanical.
The Big O will KILL you!

While we're on the subject, if anyone can give me a bit of info I'll be very pleased. Is Space Runaway Ideon officailly released in the US? And is there any hope of a subtitled Mobile Suit Gundam (original) ever being released within my grasp?
Look at all my trials and tribulations

On Ideon: Sadly, no sign of it as of yet (...which is a shame...I would prob. wet myself laughing when fanboys claim it ripped off EVA)
Unfortunately, given that all the companies are grabbing up newer titles it might be a while...
But then again, since ADV grabbed Dunbine, there's still some hope for it (if not, as I understand it, what Hks that do exist for it are actually pretty good)
In regards to subbed MSG: That's still in debates...there's talks that Bandai might rerelease it as a bilingual set, but nothing set in stone yet..
Either way, we're still not gonna get ep 15 over here

All great choises.
Another one, - Dai-Guard - The world needs saving and all we have is a "not so state of the art " twelve year old robot piloted by three young office workers from the pr department. Lots of fun.

Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?
