Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
 • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
 • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
 • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
 • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Geez! Will just wanted to announce that his vids were going up and he was making a new one. That was his intention and all of you know it. Can we at least try and get back on topic and leave other matters alone?

That was the purpose of the post and some people felt it necessary to lead it astray and use it as another venue to whine and bitch about the same things they always whine and bitch about. Why do people feel the need to hop on this little negative bandwagon and go on and on about "superiors" and so on when the purpose of this particular forum is to announce things. Go leave your self-loathe at home and let the man announce things.

In any case Will, I look forward to the video and am glad that you're finally uploading your stuff on here ya slowpoke ;).

o.o

I think Will's a big boy now, and can take it. Anyway, you're just making it bigger than it was. All you needed to say was, "Let's keep it on topic," but now you're bringing in more negativity by bitching at the people that were bitching. :? You should really practice bringing threads back on topic, if that's what you're concerned about.

And hey, the bigger this thread gets the more attention he gets. So his purpose is served either way. :P

No y'see Will is my friend and thus as a friend I feel the need to say something regardless of if he can handle it himself.

Why don't you just give it a rest and stop talking down to us. It's quite annoying and pretentious. My last paragraph is about the topic and thus an attempt to bring it back in the end. Now again, give it a rest...

I understand and agree with what Mr. Aluminum said (I won't call him Will, we don't know each other... Well, at least he doesn't know me. I started making AMVs after watching vids from Aluminum and Maboroshi).

He's just saying: I'm gonna push the concept forward, and if I achieve what I want to do, this is going to be amazing. Well... Cool! What's the problem? Don't we all appreciate when we see a whole new kind of AMV? (Well, maybe not *all* given some feedback I had about Anthem...) Are you all trying to say: "no, please, don't break our installed and working classicism"? He just said he wants to see something new because he's getting tired of the current style *he* contributed to create. He's not even asking people to be more creative. He's saying "I will be more creative. I will again contribute to create something."

What's the problem? I can only approve! Be creative, Mr. Aluminum! Please make me again want to do like you. Even if it's not called AMV.

Oh, by the way, yesterday a newcomer on another AMV forum told me about the following: "I had seen quite a few AMVs, but for me they were just a sequence of images ripped and put together. Then I saw your Zombie and I understood an AMV can be more than the sum of its anime and music. Then I saw your Anthem and I understood AMVs were an art form."
I didn't know the guy.
I felt quite happy. :D
I just had to say it, and I think this fits in the current discussion.
Be creative.
Break limits.
Most people will ignore you, some will break your work into pieces because they feel like you've taken away what they liked and what they were used to (which of course is wrong). And some will say things like that.
And that's way better than having everybody say "nice vid."

Well, I guess it all comes down to what you want to do with AMVs..

I myself have always wanted to try to do more with AMVs myself creating something more than just the traditional scene cutting. So far I've gone as far as trying to make my own storyline/alternate reality with different characters and compiled my own background for it as well from various sources and computer painted skies, etc.

This year I really only have time for the more traditional video, but I would like to get back to doing something different as well and hopefully I can make the time I need for something I wanted to do for a while...

But it is good to see variety of new and old concepts in AMVs as well...

It's tricky to not pay attention to what Bogosort said :-)

People used to laughed at, shunned, imprisoned, or even worse for saying that the world was round, for thinking that the Earth revolved around the sun, for saying "I'm not content with the current line of thinking, I want to explore other possiblities" and then trying to share that with others. I see things haven't changed much.

I appreciate the people who chimed in and tried to restore order to my post about where I want to take my work, however this thread is dead. The announcements forum is a place where people can talk about their videos, but no one who comes here and reads this is going to talk about my videos or ideas anymore.

I declare this thread derailed.

Thanks a lot for making the ORG such a pleasant place to discuss ideas.

Then we need to start the amv revolution and wash away all of the cheesy effects that the old established school is known for and get back into the realms of creating new worlds to explore within the context of our videos!
