new romance vid - Denial

:roll:

My latest endeavor. This vid is different from others I've done in that most of the sources are stills - it uses official pics, manga scans, and doujinshi scans as well as your typical anime footage. The anime featured is YYH, specifically Kurama and Hiei, and a large portion of Arina Toshimi's work (dj artist) set to 'Wicked Game' by Chris Isaak and H.I.M. - two versions, same song. It's also my first time using two songs. ^_^;

Since this is shonen ai, I'll give my usual warnings - if you can't handle watching it, don't watch it. I'm not putting a gun to anyone's head here. If you like that sort of thing, or are adult enough to handle it without going nuts, try it out. If nothing else, I think the editing could still be interesting. I had no idea it would be so hard to make such a simple-looking vid. ^_^ Good thing, too, or I might have given up before I started.

It was almost finished when you saw it - I mixed the songs so the video wouldn't be too long. ^.^ Good thing, too - I used up all my favorite pics. o.o;; I really need to get a new scanner.

Very nice! you use enough effects to make up for the lack of motion and color but never so many that it distracts from the video. The transition to the faster version of the song vas very well done, I especially like the charicter walking out of the shadows "into color." I also really liked the colorful static backrounds and the color sceme of the ending. Having only stills for the slow parts worked really well.

The transition back to the slow section wasn't as smooth. I also had a bit of an issue with the timing in a couple of spots, especially when the vocals first come in. The lyrics are very rythmic but mostly you timed to the music (I'm not quite sure what) which wasn't really that strong of a beat. The timing was sometimes kind of distracting (0:30-0:40, although I love the clips!) the choruses were better with the backround vocals and the syncing to the guitar parts was awsome. The middle section was good to.

Yep ^^ , sometimes I try to stop to post replies in some forums to avoid look stupid with my rant against some morons :?

And the last month I was in a baaaaad mood , I give up 3 vids projects that I already started the editing . . . and I don't think that I'm gonna finish them someday :x , but I'm editing another one right now , and I'm having fun with the editing of this vid , enough to start posting again here :wink: . . .. but I think you wont like :shock: because it's a fanservice MV :oops:

NOW about YOUR VID ^^

OH :o

That was great ^^, the graphic quality of the still images are very good , but just some parts I felt that the pictures has changed a bit too fast , but , still , this is definetely a great vid , it's easy to feel that you put A LOT of effort into it.

For a first time with frame by frame editing , you did very WELL , and you're right that kind of editing it's boring as hell , even with Premiere , but in my case when I'm editing a vid that ask for framexframe editing in some parts , I found reasons enough to finish the vid when I click the "preview" button :wink:
Nothing usefull here .

Thank you. ^_^ That first transition with him walking was my first time 'reanimating' but it's probably my favorite part, so I'm glad you liked that. The ending, well, it was time to really mix the official art in with the dj art and I didn't want the pics to do slow fades, so changing the backgrounds (around the circled frames) seemed to work - I liked the way it looked.
The transition back to the slow section wasn't as smooth. I also had a bit of an issue with the timing in a couple of spots, especially when the vocals first come in. The lyrics are very rythmic but mostly you timed to the music (I'm not quite sure what) which wasn't really that strong of a beat. Yeah, I didn't have a 'gimmick' for the second transition, and that guitar section in the harder song is something added that wasn't in the original version (the soft song) - I couldn't find a 'perfect' place to shift the audio so it just sort of dies back into the original - so I had the footage just 'die' back into stills. I probably should have shifted sooner or waited for a better beat.

As for the timing - it was a mix but mostly the little 'click' sounds that marked off about every 1.5 seconds in the slower song - I made that my limit for picture length for the dj section (30-40 and after that). Plus...I didn't really know how to capture the *story* in that part - it's like a comic, but I felt I needed more shots to give the feeling of what was being shown, so I matched them up with the clicks (and words if they happened to coincide) except for one or two pics that were more important than the others (I ignored the beats to make those longer).

Anyway, I'm glad you liked the vid. ^_^

I know what you mean about the morons, but don't let them get to you. We need level headed people to counter them. ^.~ And I wouldn't 'hate' a fanservice video.... >.> <.< This vid was fanservice all the way, just not in the humor sense. ;p

Heh, I edited till my eyes blurred and I forgot what day it was. ^_^;;

But I know what you mean about some of the pics being way too fast - there were at least two that I made it so quick you only catch a glimpse of them. I reused those pics at the end, so I didn't want them to be in focus for too long (foreshadowing? ;p ) It was a lot of trial and error. But thank you for watching, and for the compliment about the quality of the still pictures. I redrew the dj scans myself, so I can take that as a personal compliment. ^.~

Yeah, I didn't enjoy that part of it at all - I'd never really used PhotoImpression before, and after a while it got repetitive (especially replacing the backgrounds in the anime frames). But the way I see it - whatever it takes so the video looks like how I imagine it looking. And you're right - each time I made a preview of the vid, it was worth it. ^_^
