Naruto. The new DBZ???

Has no one else noticed this? It is my belief that naruto will in time come to rival DBZ. Look at the numbers, naruto is 14th most used with almost 2%. The anime is still being made! The DVD's are up to ep. 62 but I've seen a video using fansubs of ep 70 or so. The point is that it's relitivly new, people are making videos before it's even released!

Now I havn't seen a ton of Naruto vids yet but almost everything I've seen has been from fansubs, somtimes with intact subtitles. The point I'm trying to make is that there are a ton of low quality quickly produced vids, just like DBZ, and the numbers are growing. Not that these are all bad vids (check out "the power of hard work" or "ninja of the night") but I have yet to see more than one that used DVD source.

I belive the reason for this groundswell is that Naruto has many aspects that difrent people enjoy (comedy, power trip, originality) so it attracts a wide following.

I don't know much about the anime itself since I haven't seen it, but the first few boxes are available on the bootleg sites, the fansubs and even non-subbed downloadable versions are everywhere according to the vids I've watched and the editors I've spoken to who like this anime.

It may not be finished, and it may not be in the US yet (I have no idea - I don't plan to buy it till it's finished), but it seems to be a lot easier to get ahold of than any other new anime, and much more popular. If you've seen the thread in General Anime where fans of Naruto were proclaiming it to be more popular among viewers than DBZ was (especially the US fanboys), then you can bet the same will happen here.

Just think about it - the earliest dbz vids were listed as premiering in 1997 - 7 years to get dbz to where it is on our charts at the org. How long since the first Naruto vid listed here? There were 2 in 2001, in less than 3 years we've gotten 610 vids added to that - look at the rise.
2 vids in 2001
2 vids in 2002
389 vids in 2003
208 vids in 2004
And it's not even 3 months into the year.

Time to worry, or to celebrate the future leader in the most used anime polls? I doubt the numbers will drop any time soon.

I'm just going by the listed premiere dates on this site (via searches). ^.~

Also keep in mind that people don't have to bother wondering how to list it. Nar Uto or N or NRT or NarUto... it's just Naruto.

The possibilities are endless with DBZ. And Eva at least has Neon Genesis Evangelion and Evangelion for the series.

I'm not denying that there have been tons of Naruto vids recently, but the surge will pass eventually. It might pass up all the Dragonball/Z/GT/Movie videos combined, but I doubt it and not by much if it does.

It might seem strange, but, as always seems to be the case with vids I download, of a half-dozen Naruto AMV's I've seen, all were very good

It's a big thing these days, what else to say?

Personally though, I'm kinda sympathetic to the show, and I'd like to make a Naruto AMV myself in the near future. Although I've only seen a few eps so far.

It may not have come across on my first post but I accually view the trend as a GOOD thing. I prefer Naruto to DBZ as a series and think it's inherently better for making AMV's because even action vids typically have more story to them than your typical DBZ slugfest. It also has more potential for other genres of AMV's (Comedy, Char profile, Drama.)

I am saving up for the DVD's but in the meantime I've been following the series from a friend's fansubed collection. I must say that I really like the series although I usually go for darker anime (eva, lain, NTHT.)

Thanks for the stats Arigatomyna. I probably would have thought of it myself if I wasn't so lazy.

Otohiko, if you do make one, drop me a line, I'd be interested to see how it turned out. And good job on that new wasteland banner, it's awsome. 8)

Well... I need to see more Naruto. I believe a friend of mine has all the episodes, so it shouldn't be a problem... eventually.

I liked Naruto because it reminded me of... well, of stuff I would REALLY be going crazy over were I... 5 or 6 years younger. From the way it was turning out, at least the parts I've seen, it would've been my ultimate 14-year-old anime.

But I'm not 14, so it's harder to get into it now, even despite the nostalgic senses it evokes.
