lol! im not saying its suppose to be a storytelling video.. im just saying that it should make sense for viewers that havnt seen the anime yet... ive seen a lot of videos here that shows what i mean about "making sense", even though ive never seen the anime... but theres a few that didnt make sense to me though..

Eh...don't dwell on it too much. This place is very informal and casual, which is reflected in the way people talk to each other.

Far worse has been said on these boards anyway.

There are story vids, and then there are thematic vids, and then there are random vids, and others that defy description.

No amv is going to match everyone's idea of what vids should be - you have to pick through them and find the ones that suit what you like - or make them yourself. I also enjoy the story vids, but I must admit - most of the ones for anime I was unfamiliar with either told no story whatsoever, or went the easy (bad) road and had subtitles to give me an idea of what was going on in the footage. Since most people avoid using subtitled material, it's harder to find vids that will tell a story I (as someone who hasn't seen the anime) can follow. That's common. Despite the idea that I originally had of amvs being mini-anime, they are simply footage matched to audio. That's all you can expect from an amv - footage and audio. What they do with that depends on the creator.

But that doesn't mean you can't find the sort of vids you want to watch. Just look for the drama vids, or the romance vids - while a few are eyecandy alone, many of them tell their own stories. Some are completely different from the anime, though, so don't buy something based on what you see in a vid - the footage may be the same, but chances are the 'story' will not be.

Another thing to keep in mind is that some people despise spoilers. I like them myself, but most people don't - so many amv creators avoid anything that might 'spoil' an anime for those who haven't seen it. In many cases this means leaving out key scenes that might have explained the point of the anime - instead they take pretty shots around that and make medlies. It's one way or the other - either alienate the spoiler-haters and tell the story as it plays in the anime, or alienate the storyfanatics and feed the eyecandy to those who don't want to see the plot of the anime until they get a chance to watch it for themselves.

Yes, and of course you have the 'art' concept. But many amvs are modeled with the viewer in mind - and that determines spoilers (and plot), eyecandy (and plot - for original stories), or eyecandy (and spoiler-free for new viewers).

Just keep looking - there are all sorts of amvs, so I'm sure you'll find ones that fit your tastes. And if not, make them yourself. That's always worked for me. ^_^

Or you could just use the command-line FTP client that you already have (assuming you're using Windows).
