There are two reasons why you're an idiot for posting this.
First, this should have gone under Video Hardware Help, not the AMV section.
Second, you didn't read the <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... >Guides</a>, but then again that's typical for a n00b such as yourself.
So do yourself and everyone else a favor and go read the guides, then if you have any questions after that, I'll be glad to help.

You know, glancing through your posts I find it ironic that you would say this to a new member asking a question. You, the same person who was so annoyed that people didn't help you when you had trouble grasping the concept of frame serving with Premiere. Maybe a few of your own quotes would help you be a little more understanding of so-called 'noobs' such as yourself. ^_^;;squall1986 wrote:There are two reasons why you're an idiot for posting this.

Now do you think this person might have also made a 'mistake' - that this person might also be a little 'pissed off that no one would bother to help' him or her? Irony? Or just the pot calling the kettle black?squall1986 wrote:Ah, my mistake, man I feel dumb today.
Man, i'm an idiot,
...sorry, i was just really pissed off that no one would bother to help me.

Re: Hardware Question
Correct me if I'm wrong but Dells come with a sound card already don't they? If you want better quality sound then I generally find that better speakers will help more than a new soundcard. Computer speakers are generally crap and the average modern soundcard is usually more powerful than needed.alicets1979 wrote:My question is what other hard ware should i get like sound crard, video capture card, ect... Make sure you actually need a capture card before getting one. Unless you're doing something unusual you just need a DVD player and a DVD ripper, forget about the capture card.
AMVs really only need three things, processor power, hard drive space, and memory. Your processor should be fine, although not great. I find that 512 meg memory is enough even if I have Photoshop, Premiere, and Virtualdub open at the same time. HD space is nice to have but isn't flat out required as long as you have a few gig free.
Really you don't need a kickass computer to do AMVs. All three videos in my profile were done on a PII 400 with 256 megs memory and about 5 gigs free HD space. I have a much better computer now and it helps speed things along but there isn't a single thing I can do with my athlon 3200, 512 memory, and 100 gig HD that I couldn't do before.
Incidently, don't get the wrong idea, most people here are friendly despite the few obvious pricks.

the intergrated sound card that came with your dell will be fine. as far as speakers are concernd all u really need are some regualer speakers i dont have any fancy dobly digital 5.1 system coz i find these simple speakers work fine. for hard drive space u dont need all that much to make a decent amv all u really need is about 20gigs and a captuer card is only necessary if u want to record stuff of vhs or tv. to rip dvds u just need a dvd drive and a dvd riping program such a smart ripper. 512mb of ram is fine as well the only thing that will change your rendering time is cpu speed so that 2.2ghz celeron might slow things down a bit but eh its not bad at all. so i dont think u need to buy anything just the programs u need to make amvs with but then again most are free like smart ripper, vdub and tmpgenc. u can go out and buy premier or vegas for about $600 or use windows movie maker witch most likely came with your dell. the guids on the member main page will explain everything in more detail. good luck on your first amv
