Neon Genesis Evangelion Important Question

I'm renting Neon Genesis Evangelion from a video store and watching it all, I want to buy it but I think I'll try and wait for the new DVD's to come out.

At any rate my question:

This store has the Death and Rebirth DVD, and then it has these two DVD's which are called the Neon Genesis Evangelion Movies (movie 1 and movie two), but I don't see any End of Evangelion DVD. I was wondering are the movies the End of Evangelion? If not what are they? And what order should I watch this stuff in.

I'm sure I'll be able to find the End of Evangelion somewhere else if I look hard enough, but if these two DVD's are indeed the same thing then it may not be necessary, please let me know as soon as possible. I really can't wait to see the rest.

End of Evangelion should be movie 2... dunno why it wouldnt be labeled end of evangelion though...

Yes, End of Evangelion is the 2nd movie.
They named it End of Evangelion because... *SPOILER*

Thanks for your answers, however just to clarify, this store had:

1. Death and Rebirth

2. Neon Genesis Evangelion Movie 1

3. Neon Genesis Evangelion Movie 2

It did not have End of Evangelion.

I take it that you two are telling me that Movie 1 = Death and Rebirth
and Movie 2 = End of Evangelion
they just happen to have different packaging?
So I should not rent Death and Rebirth only Movie 1 and 2?

Sorry I just wasn't sure if that's what you meant.

Ok thats messed up... only 2 movies are released... Death & Rebirth, and EoE.
Half of death and rebirth is a recap of the series, and the other half is the same as the first half of EoE, so its hardly worth watching. But... i dunno wtf is up with your rental store :p

Technically speaking, Death and Rebirth are two separate movies that just happened to never be shown separately...

D&R is a total waste, IMO. Like a "Cliff's Notes" for Eva that was written by an alcoholic.

By movie do you mean the DVD number? Like movie one are the first four eps, and movie two are the next three? Because their right, EoE should be the second movie.

I liked Death and rebirth. It kind of put things in a better perspective. Plus the soundtrack is better than the EoE one.

End of Evangelion are reworked versions from episodes 25 and 26, which are both different 'movies', just like LotR was three seperate movies.

Death and Rebirth shipped with the the recap movie (death) and the first End of Evangelion movie (rebirth). The End of Evangelion dvd shipped with both the EoE movies.
