*waves* Hi... I'm new so I just wanted to say hi and first of all FLCL was a great anime :D I loved it...
though it does get boring watching again and again... and they would ruin it trying to make FLCL 2.
It would be like trying to make Cowboy Bebop into a good video game...

Impossible :P

They probally didn't have any more because the guy who wrote that anime must have so frigin insanse. I wouldn't be suprised if he is sitting in a pretty white padded room where he isn't able to make any FLCL.

People act like those two things are mutually exclusive... they've already GOT quality, it wouldnt hurt them to put in a bit more quantity. 6 episodes is painfully short. When you got something good, run with it. There's no point letting it go to waste.

exactly
*blinky* what...?
It means that FLCL is a good anime, lot because of it's length, but because it's a GOOD anime.

In my opinion I think it's a GREAT anime. I love the way it messes with your mind. :)
yeah... FLCL is awesome^^ i wonder if they will ever make more episodes? the series was way too short X_x
FLCL was an OVA ... kinda like a 3 hour movie cut up into 6 excessivly random cunks. However ... a friend of mine said he found a 7th episode ... which scares me ... because it makes me think of the infamous episodes 27 from Love hina and Eva :? *shudder*

But yea, i loved FLCL, it dosn't need to be added to either, because of how the sotry is told, oif somone tries to bring it back and add more to it, it will more then likely fail.

not needed i guess, i havent seen the series though -_-
*kicks*
what the hell did i just say ... well whatever, i really think you should get your hands on FLCL ... and no FLCL 2 would not be a good idea ... they told the story they intended to tell, trying to tell more would be like american television. Find something people like, and then ride it to the ground till it crashes and burns ... then try to ride it some more ... and if your lucky, 6 years later you'll beable to try and ride it agian. :?

I disagree with you. 6 Episodes is NOT painfully short if your story is written to be 6 episodes. Gunbuster is only 6 episodes and it is so powerful... and so moving... and it's just amazing how much they got done in 6 eps...

Now... I do agree that you CAN have quality and quantiy... I mean, look at Cowboy Bebop...

However... the team that did Bebop also did Macross Plus, which was only 4 episodes... and four was all it needed... it was great.

Pioneer has taken many shows I liked and beaten them to death... in fact, it even has had negative effects...

For instance... I loved the original Tenchi Muyo OAV... it was 6 eps (and a Summer Special) and I loved it... but then Pioneer kept releasing more and more and more Tenchi and I've really gotten turned off to the point where I don't really even enjoy Tenchi at all and don't even want to hear about it.

Now... there are some anime titles I would like to see more of... and some anime titles certainly can have follow ups made (provided they have the same kind of care and quality)

Example 1: Phantom Quest Corp was a 4 ep OAV that was used to see if people would be interested in the title. I love Phantom Quest Corp, but Pioneer abandoned it... and that show had SO MUCH potential...

Example 2: Cowboy Bebop is a COMPLETE series... however, I have had numerous discussions on how one could do a second series of Cowboy Bebop... now... before you roll your eyes, let me just say this... WHAT IS THE SHOW CALLED? It's named after THE SHIP... not any of the individual characters. I could easily see a 2nd series of Cowboy Bebop... (and I could tell you how I see it unfolding), HOWEVER - I would NEVER want to see a second series of Bebop unless THE ORIGINAL TEAM did it.

The big problems with almost all follow up titles (be it for anime or movies or whatever) is that it is often made for the wrong reasons. Often, it's a new team taking over and ignoring many important things that are established in the original...

Look at the Alien movies...

Alien and Aliens were good movies because the man who created the whole Alien thing (Dan O'Bannon) was calling the shots. It was his vision and his creation.

Alien 3 sucked because Dan O'Bannon was thrown out by the studios. Hell... there was a whole issue that was dedicated to how bad Alien 3 was going all the way from interviews with Dan himself all the way down to costume designers and set constructors who were involved with the first 2 movies....

Alien 4 (Alien: Resurection) was just another disaster.

Well... I'll stop there for now.

I must also say that 6 eps of FLCL is more than enough. It is short and sweet which makes it so good. It is one of my favorite animes. :D

THOUSAND APOLOGIES FOR 2X POST!!!

Post by Daio Kaji » Sun Jan 25, 2004 2:42 pm

me forgot to stay on topic.... :?
i don't think just because you have quality, that you should continue a show to get quantity, it's much harder to live up to a good anime then it is to make a good longer anime right off the bat.

but think about it.. FLCL2... you CAN'T make it about Naota because then ppl will go '..wtf, this is SHIT without Haruko!!!' you CAN'T make it about Haruko going after Atomsk because ppl will go '...wtf, this is SHIT without Naota!!!' you can't make it about Haruko AND Naota together again caues ppl will '...wtf, this is SHIT because it's just trying to copy the original series!!!' so the ONLY way for this to success is... MAKE IT ABOUT CANTI-SAMA!!!!!!! lol... as you can, this just can't happen

and about the Bebop sequel comments, the show IS called Cowboy Bebop, but don't forget 2 things, 1st off, it's called COWBOY bebop, the cowboys are gone, 2nd of all, the Bebop belongs to Jet, and he is done with that life style, he won't go solo, without Spike, it's just not the same... thus the series is over... g'nite!
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D

FLCL is amazing anime. It's shortness is one of it's best points. It actually does have a plot (though an incredibly odd and surreal one) and it had good characters and very goodd animation. The animation and music also work well together, and I love the pacing (best described as 'manic' even during calm scenes you can hear the music building up the tension for the next crazy happening...)
I showed someone who'd never seen FLCL before an AMV of it once. It was hilarious. He just sat there staring and then said 'Did that robot just come out of that guy's head'? :D

Wow, for a second there, i though this thread was a chat room ... ...

Anyways, back on topic, i wanna see FLCL because it sounds pretty interesting from wat u guys have said, it shouldnt be to bad since its a shorter anime series so it shouldnt cost too much either compared to other longer anime series. But i still think that the dvd for these short anime series are way to overpriced.. :x
