A lot of movies use them inplace of the 'real thing' (Since when making a movie it's procedure to ALWAYS use a replica in place of a real weapon when you can.)

They use either compressed gas, or an electric air motor to fire plastic BB's. Course, I'd open the sucker up, remove all it's innards, and fill it with modeling glue so it would become completly harmless.

I actually hate -real- weapons, but for the sake of Drama, they're a good device. :P
Just my mind wandering, but what would cops think if you were cosplaying as a character carrying a gun that is supposed to look real? They might really think it is and treat you as some crazy terrorist. Especially if you live in the United States. Anyway I wish you luck with that one...

That would be why one dosn't just carry a prop weapon around town. They're legal to own, though they are just dummies and toys certian gun control laws here in Canada still apply to them. (Excluding registration) And this isn't so much cosplay, I wanna start experimentation with digital video effects (Muzzle flashes, bullet time, sweatdrops, and after effects... OH MY!) More like fun indie-film stuff. >:D

I've talked to the local PD, as long as I tell them where I'd be using such props, they'll send someone to baby sit me while I do it, rather then terrorise the public. :P

Ok. At least your allowed to do this. If I tried it I would be gunned down without warning.

Damn paranoid country. :x

But I think I'll get on topic. I pretty much only own straight anime right now. Seeing as how I just got into it about 6 months ago. But that may change...

pooh! you suck ...

Real weapons are fun. They don't neccesarily have to be used to harm anything either ... something like 98% of the shooting i've done has had virtualy no effect on noticable living organisms ...

wtf ... such jibberish ... i should delete that ... now i want to plink around with my air gun too :?
god damn exams and the studying ...

My brother has paintball guns and a beebee gun...but he's insane...so that's a really bad thing :? I'd love to try cosplaying someday, but alas, I have yet to hear of an anime convention coming to Miami...I'd have to drive all the way to Orlando!

::does happy dance:: I've got a WK stationary set (yes, I do use snail mail from time to time) and shitajiki on the way!!!

Speaking of Airsoft guns, here's a kickass site that makes replica kits of anime guns. They even had real working guns from GunGrave!! Sadly they sell to Japan only, as U.S. gun control laws prevent any U.S. sales.....damn and those Hellsing guns look so cool >.<
Poseidon

Any ways to stay on topic:

Full Metal panic T-shirt

MG RX-78GP01fb
MG RX-78GP03
MG MS-07B3 Gouf
MG MS-06F2

and many more....

12" Vash doll
Kaiyodo figs:

EVA Unit 01 (glow in dark variant)

Alucard (dvd repaint limited)
Seras (dvd repaint limited)

I just got a few 2 inch high Sailor Moon figures as a sort of "pre-Christmas gift". They were made by Irwin, which I believe is out of the Sailor Moon toy-making business :(

Well,

Lain, Noir and KareKano shirts
Kenshin collectable cards
Deck of Tenchi playing cards
Kenshin artbook
Tomoe figurine (from Kenshin OVAs)
Chibi Kenshin badges
Personalised Reading Anime Society membership cards (have to include these as they are really well done by the guy that runs the soc)

And I don't doubt that there's plenty more, too =/
