The mans penis is just inside the girl. They are simulating one mind, body, and soul with Rei and Shinji, which is on a much higher level than sex. One other thing, the reason there are not five other people in the sea of LCL is because Rei is trying to explain it to Shinji so he understands. That is why everyone 'spashes' into LCL.

As you can tell I feel very strongly about this.

to be honest, i reckon that shinji should just strangel hikari the way he did asuka style. i mean, nge has stronger emotions than any other anime in existance and it does this by ignoring humanities most empowering emotion, love. bringing love and romance into nge is just wrong

You know, Shinji's primary flaw isn't that he doesn't get humanity. Hell, I don't get humanity, but I still interact with people. His problem, like the rest of the NGE characters, is that he doesn't even bother to try and interact with people. He's too goddamn gutless to risk something in order to gain something else, which makes him completely useless as an Evangelion pilot. Socialization is a lot like mobile warfare with a guerrilla element: you have to risk and possibly lose ground/troops to gain a tactical edge.

Even being a complete blockhead, Shinji seemed to pick up on the very prerequisites for socialization at the near end of Episode 19 (when he chooses to return and pilot Unit-01 to save humanity). To quote Shatner's crappiest line from "Star Trek": "Risk.....is our business.......gentlemen! That's why we're aboard her!"

But of course, Anno makes Shinji go back to being completely ignorant of the possible rewards for risk by Episode 22.

So why am I rambling on like this? In conclusion, the characters of NGE need to realize there's always the chance to gain far more if one risks it all, before they break down into a dating sim orgy. They don't even get the true meaning of a relationship. They just cling to each other because they need someone to comfort/pity them at the time. That's no foundation for the Children to start humping anything on two legs, no matter how desperate they are.

What are you talking about? Episode 22 is when he actually tries to reach out to an Asuka in need. Of course, Asuka being Asuka, and considering the circumstances, it blows up in his face. But at least he tried.

I don't think that was specific enough to warrant spoiler treatment... right?
