Isnt it funny...

Post by LightningCountX » Wed Oct 22, 2003 8:28 am

This kinda has to do with Fugie's topic...but DBZ music video creators are chewed out by others...now...they go around saying OMG LP/DBZ WTF OMFG shit, and some say that DBZ is for noobie's who just got into the amv's area, and say that us DBZ creators killed DBZ music videos...now...i check their profiles, and what do i find????DBZ/LP noobie videos...or just DBZ videos...and they blame me for overusing the content  i just started on the org in may and made DBZ AMV's which alot of other people enjoyed, and same with Arigatomyna, Paulo,
)v(ajin Koji, and Kegger(and a few others if i missed anyone)and we basically joined around the same time and got flamed for overusing DBZ, when it was our first time using it? Well, you all overused the DBZ/LP concept, so dont blame us, cause im sick of this hippocritical shit. also, you cant blame the tally of DBZ fans out there...its the first, and also the THIRD most prefered anime, so you cant blame editors for a good series...

It's not a good series.

But it's not so bad either. People just tend to take it too seriously. :?

I live near Houston. There are way too many Starbucks stores there. You can't go more than a mile without seeing a Starbucks. In fact, on one corner of an intersection there is a Starbucks, and directly across the street is another Starbucks. That's way too many fucking Starbucks. Now who's the 'tard when it comes to building Starbucks stores, the person who first built a Starbucks on a busy corner, or the guy that thought it would be a good idea to build a Starbucks next door to a Starbucks? :?

well, cartoon network shows over 3 hours of scooby doo daily, along with showing the movies daily...scooby doo is an overused cartoon since the 70's, but im not complaining, even though it destroys the only channel i basically watch with 5 different versions of scooby doo

What's even better than knowing that most of the people flaming have made their own overdone dbz vids is knowing that they were usually horrible at it. ^_^

There are vid creators who actually go so far as to have separate accounts for their poorly made dbz vids - so they won't be associated with those noobish attempts. And then there are the ones who remove their old badly done dbz vids so no one will ever know exactly how bad they were. After all, if we knew, they wouldn't have as much room to criticize, now would they?

But I wouldn't worry too much about it. Every place needs something to be the scapegoat, and dbz serves nicely here. You mention the habit of noobs making bad videos and dbz is automatically listed. Someone mentions a dbz vid and people automatically assume it's downloaded footage. You announce a dbz vid and people automatically think 'newbie with bad video'. You upload a dbz vid and you have the anti-dbz squad going around giving instant 1s to every dbz vid listed in the 'new downloads' list. And you know why, right?

That's the scapegoat. Even when someone brings up other overused anime/songs, the topic goes back to dbz. As long as people are looking at dbz no one else has to worry about how overdone their vids are - so long as they're directing attention to the bad dbz vids it's all good. And it's *easy*. There are a lot of dbz vids - there are a lot of bad vids. This is natural. There are a lot of 'Bring me to life' vids - there are a lot of bad 'Bring me to life' vids. That's also natural. But until something else actually surpasses dbz (which is an anime, not a single song - meaning the numbers will always be higher) it will continue.

That's just the way things are. ^_^

[And you know, this would probably go in the 'general amv' section. It's a shame, too, because the second it hits up there it will turn into the usual anti-dbz thread. There's no point even bringing it up.]

I remember I got an opinion froma guy who just went on and on about how my scenes were random in a scene where the only lyrics were "La La La" and he admitted that he'd marked it down because its DBZ, i wouldnt have minded if he'd only marked down orginiallity but the score was effected all over, he even kinda blamed the quallity on the fact that its DBZ!

I posted it on the forums and I got flamed!
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

Ah, the pervading hypocrisy of the Org rears its ugly head once again.

I completely agree with Arigatomyna. We were all newbies once, and let's face it, we sucked back then. It's only fair that we ALL admit it. It's the high-and-mighty elitist attitude of a lot of people here that puts me off at times because it's so damn hypocritical. Just look at it this way: the people pointing fingers at DBZ creators and yelling "n00b" are pointing three more fingers back at themselves.

I can honestly say I never made a DBZ video, but I will not deny that I was once a fan. Heck, I still own a VHS of the Trunks and Bardock specials (that I bought before they got an R1 DVD release). I drag them out occasionally. They're admittedly pretty good.

That doesn't mean I won't still make one in the future. I do have a couple of ideas floating around the back of my head, though LightningCount (along with a LOT of other DBZ fans) would probably come after me brandishing a spork if I said what they were ^_^;;

But admittedly, the N00b DBZ Video That Sucks stereotype does have some basis. Because a lot of the DBZ videos out there DO suck. They're just badly edited and even more badly encoded (3MB .rm files .... *shudder*). But it's still unfair to use the anime itself as a scapegoat, blatantly insult newbie creators that implement it, and give opinions on their videos that drip bias from every available orifice. Because it only compounds the problem. DBZ has been used and abused enough already.

I am still a fan of DBZ (even more so of DB), but the fact remains that its use has been pushed over the edge, and we continually get files < 10megs featuring poorly encoded downloaded eps of DBZ with mindless shots of characters powering up and punching each other.

I find it funny that the people who continue to use an overused anime try to shift blame to people who used the anime when it wasn't at a point of overuse.

wait...where's hypocracy?
