most moving ending
PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING SPOILERS
Now with that said, what was in your opinion the most moving ending to an anime you've seen, and please don't refer to bowel movments to trash an anime ... just talk about the stuff you like.
Now the most moving ending I've seen was FLCL. It was a sort of wake up experience for me. One reason being that it was my first conciously sought out anime, the other being that it reminded me that not everything has to end all happy and perfect. I was depressed for two weeks and played nothing but slow sad music on my guitar for that period of time ... the ending still gets me.
Now your turn.

I would say the ending of Saber Marionette J if not for the very last 15 seconds or so of the series. Based on everything that had happened up to that point, the event at the end just shouldn't have been possible, and it seems the director just threw it in to make the ending happy. It would have been much more moving if they had left it on a down note.

I'm not a big fan of happy endings anyway. In fact, one of the short stories I sent away to a publisher got declined once because they would have preferred it with a more "uplifting" ending. So the guy died in the end, so what? The ending worked.

Eh, I'm opening myself up for attacks for being a sap by posting in this thread. Oh, well.
Sailor Moon R movie - the first time I watched it, let's just say I had a very strong reaction to the ending, and it was the anime (movie) that hooked me on anime for life
Sorcerer Hunters - not the final 4 minutes of it, but the climactic ending before that epilogue type silent text section - very strong reaction from me (and the music kicked ass big time)
Tenchi Universe - not really a tearjerker, but one of the sweetest endings I've seen, it had me grinning like a madman (or woman if you want to be technical about it)
Haunted Junction - the climax and sweet ending were very touching for me, since I'd fallen in love with the characters by that time

Cowboy Bebop
Shamanic Princess (the ending with Grahm, man was that sad
)
End of Evangelion (Some reason I tend to skip ahead to the 2nd half and watch it, but it's ending before the beach scene was moving for me.)
FLCL (yeah when that guitar plucks you just kinda go..."Damn")
Kenshin Seisouhen (sp?) OVA (come on...that was just sad, really really sad, make grown otaku cry)
