Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Repaired X-Perchance to Dream vid

Okay, I'm sure you remeber a week or two back I uploaded a new video and was happy about it? Well, that didn't last. As it turns out, there was an error and inconsistencies in performance and quality cropped up. Errors that I had know knowledge of, considering that the video behaved itself on my computer, when I scanned the video file in VDub, and when I tested the upload. So I got Phade to remove it (for some reason theres 3 entries for this video, I have no Idea why, but only 1 copy is on the server, Phade asuured me)

Anyway, I just uploaded the mpeg1 version. I'm thinking that the problem was the codec disagreeing with everyone elses (original vid was XviD and the 4CC was DIVX) and decompressing wrong, coz I saw a pic of it in some funky tweaked version of Vdub (Which I would like to get my hands on, if anyone knows what I'm on about please tell me where to get it; its not VDub AVS, already got that). There was a discrepancy with nearly everything. My comp said "Decompressor - DivX 5 Professional" and the pic someone put up here (which was clearly my vid) said "Decompressor - DivX 4". Also it said I only had 1 keyframe, and when I checked mine, I found I actually had 141 keyframes. So I reencoded the HuffYUV master to MPEG1. And it looks A-ok at the moment. Heres the link:

aHA!! Think I may have found the answer to one of the problems - ffdshow may heve been decompressing it with DivX 4, and I didn't have ffdshow, so my comp was using DivX 5, the only other one available other than that nasty assed DivX ;) 3.11a .
