Exactly, like with certain shows, you get a really good dubbing actor i give Golden boy as an example here, what a great dub job that was...versus something like say... Kenshin, worst show to dub ever, ok when something is completely set in Japan, in the past, and they suddenly speak with strong english accents.... :::shoots self in head:::SessyRyo wrote:It depends on the anime really.

I know how you feel. I like dave Lucus too, and tho I don't know the avtors nbame, I'm very partial to Zechs Merquise as well.TallonKarrde23 wrote:yeah, i watch both. For Example, anything with Dave Lucas(AKA Steve Blum...or the other way around) i watch dubbed, other then that i watch whatever sounds better. Like Excel....NEVER watch it dubbed, you might end up killing yourself...seriously. But the japanese dub is great so yeah --; GTO, has dave lucas in it for one, but also the japanese one just doesnt seem to fit the characters very well. I guess i just cant see some skinny guy with a girly sounding high pitched voice playing onizuka's part --;

ack tEh evil dub vs sub debate ...
to put it short, i like subs, it helps me speed up my reading, i like the way japanese sounds, and it's closer to the creators original vision since they don't have to lip sync, or edit the script to make up for language gaps and mouth movment.
however i will watch a dub, exspecialy if i'm with my friends. But watcing a dub on my own, usualy it's only to compare quality or get a laugh.

Heh well nothing like subs though to be confusing, like the last few episodes of Eva, now i would never watch it dubbed, but when everyone is talking at once to Shinji, ya that gets a bit confusing, I'm sorry all the voices blend together in Japanese, and THERE IS NO EMOTION!

I watch a particular anime both ways (one episode apeice) then stick with whichever voice acting is more appealing. I ACTUALLY find the English Dub Voices more appealing more often then not. I will admit one thing; DUB's are HORRIBLE more often then subs (i.e. Kenshin, LOVE HINA (omg), and yes, sorry to say, Ranma 1/2)
Reading is not an issue (I get used to the subs in a few minutes), and I rarely miss the action because of a sub. If I miss anything AT ALL, ITS ONE OF THOSE DAMN HALF-SECOND subtitles. wtf?
So the short answer would be Dub in a close contest.

Lol this pointless debate again. It's usually whichever one you watch first. I can't stand watching slayers subbed and the dub of Love Hina makes me want to hurl. I used to watch all dubbed anime and then I found out that sabre marrionette J was only available subbed so we had to watch it subbed it was very different for us and although an english dub is now available there is no way it would sound right.
