How important is originality anyway?
I was just brooding... an AMV I've been wanting to do for a long time is Chop Suey!/Fatal Fury. I got a little disheartened when I saw that some other guy had done Chop Suey!/Fatal Fury motion picture already, but figured that I could still get away with it since I intended to use the OAVs as well. But then I saw that someone has also done Chop Suey!/Fatal Fury motion picture AND OAVs and that really put me off.
So what constitutes a no-go on originality anyway? I mean, there are heaps of Chop Suey!/Evangelion AMVs because that's frankly a no-brainer (I sometimes wonder if System of a Down wrote that song with Evangelion in mind) but if someone does a concept which requires a lot of thought to come up with, is it considered bad form to do that concept too, even if you came up with it independent of outside influence? I still want to do the AMV, but don't want to be seen as a copycat.

Heh you should see two of my DBZ vids. They're only original because I'm the only one to try doing the off-the-wall parodies that I do. So what you gotta do is have that crazy brain-cell, wherever it may be hiding, and bring it out when you're coming up with the concept for your next AMV. People may not like it, but I can damn sure assure you it's gonna be original!
Peace!
Peace!

Hrm. I think need that crazy original braincell....Pie Row Maniac wrote:Good call. AWESOME call.SSJVegita0609 wrote:Just do what you want, that's my philosophy. However, if you produce something that's horribly unoriginal and people bash you for it, then chances are after that you're gonna WANT to be more original.
