Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Is it just me?

Post by Nemoxs » Sat Jul 05, 2003 8:53 pm

I can't play ANY divx videos... my computer rejects them like moldy cheese...

Can't more people just download the free version of (www.tmpg.com) Tmpg?

I can't - won't work for me. But if you want to play divx files, just go download the divx codecs - there are links in the guides, and for the xvid files do a google search and you'll get the right codec. Once they're all on you computer you can watch any sort of file without having to worry (except evil QT mov files, and BSPlayer mpeg2 files).

But this probably should have gone in the general amv section. :?

You don't have Quicktime installed...do you? It renders my divx codecs obsolete when it's on my computer. Otherwise go get the avisynth (? could be a different one ?) package - I think it comes complete with a number of codecs that will install automatically. As long as you don't have anything to override them (like QT - nasty thing >.< ).

And if you just don't want to mess with avi - don't bother. ^_^ Last I heard mpg was still the universal file format that works on nearly any computer - and lots of people still use wmv.

You might also need to get the most current version of FFDshow along with the DivX codec.
