Hah! 85% of my current friends are people I know over the internet - and I like it that way. Much easier to find anime fans on the internet than in my home town. 8)

I think so. I had to stop using aim because I kept running into old 'friends' who remembered me - I think if you remember them and keep in touch, it counts, whether it's virtual communication or over the phone. It's still a living person, so yeah, it counts.
