In Loving Memory of Newt, the little girl from "Aliens&

Post by the Black Monarch » Sat Mar 15, 2003 12:41 am

I've wanted to make an Alien saga music video for months. Although I knew of a few songs that could fit well, none of them seemed strong enough to warrant deviation from my Evangelion music video projects.

A few days ago, I bought the Evanescence album. I loved it (especially My Immortal), and immediately wanted to make a music video to one or more songs on the album. My first thoughts were of Evangelion, and not just because it shared the first four letters of its name with those of the band.

Last Tuesday, I realized how well My Immortal would work with the Alien series, particularly the relationship between Ripley and Newt. On Wednesday, I started working on it. I am currently about 2/3 done with it.

The footage is exclusively from Aliens and Alien3. I'd originally wanted to use all four movies, but I found clips from the second and third movies that worked much better for the parts that I'd wanted to use the first and fourth movies for. The video is almost as emotionally intense as the movie series, but it doesn't have nearly as many monsters. (Actually, I might not have enough monsters in the video for it to really represent the movies well. But the video's message must come first.)

The video will be dedicated to Carrie Henn, the actress who played Newt.

If you ever wish to see it, then please donate to the Golden Donut.

"These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase
When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you screamed I'd fight away all of your fears
And I've held your hand through all of these years
But you still have... all of me
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
And though you're still with me
I've been alone all along..."

Why is no one responding?

V1.1 was created later that day; I'm going to release v1.2 soon, which should diversify some of the more continuous scenes to make the vid less monotone as well as smooth out some of the half-speed footage and include actual audio quotes from the movies so that everything makes more sense.

This video has gotten positive remarks from everyone who's seen it, with one exception. Said exception called the video boring, but then again, he thought "Swordfish" was a good movie...

I suggest we take off and nuke the site from orbit... it's the only way to be sure.

er... that's not in the vid either...

version 1.19 is complete. Version 1.2 will be complete when I figure out why the movie audio is so damn quiet...

I suppose having my WAV volume nearly muted might have contributed to that problem :)

The movie quotes are still pretty damn quiet, though. Help me ErMaC, you're my only hope!
