Live It Up Live It Up // Always Wanted // Following the Feeling

Post by CrackTheSky » Sun Apr 05, 2020 1:32 pm

Hi everybody! Over the last week, I released three videos using the two seasons and movie of Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions because it's a series that I absolutely fell in love with, and I really wanted to do it justice in AMV form. Making a single video wouldn't have been sufficient, I don't think, to show off all the angles of the series that I wanted to, so I opted to make three videos instead. Each one feels very different from the other two (imo, anyway), and I'm really happy with the outcome. Hope you enjoy them too!

always nice to see more chunibyo vids. Especially one that features my favorite girl Satone :awesome: . I think I liked "Following the feeling" the most though. But live it up was pretty fun as well. All of your videos just reminded me how badly I want another season :asd:

Having just made a Chunibyo video of my own, it's super fun to see someone else's take on it! Especially when it's THREE different AMVs, each with their own vibe, and each focusing on a different part of the series! All three of these videos are great! (Although, if I were to pick just one, I think "Live It Up Live It Up" is my favorite.)

Great job!

I watched this AMV right after you first put it online and I really liked it. Watching the series gave me a whole different appreciation of it as it relates to the characters and the story.

I probably shouldn't compliment it for how well you featured some of the most visually-pleasing scenes, as I think pretty much anyone who edits to this series is going build their efforts around most of those. But I thought they were as effectively used as they could have been with this song. Every sequence of this AMV is a process of winding up for or paying out on a big emotional rush. Watching this fills me with such an irresistible feeling of optimism. I really love this.
I'd also describe this video as "upbeat" but there's still a bittersweet feeling running through it, ultimately making this AMV an emotionally complicated thing that's hard to put in a box.

It took me a little while to warm up to Satone as a character--for a while I resented her intrusion on what I considered to be a perfectly-balanced cast that wasn't going to benefit from any major additions--although by the end of season 2, I couldn't help but empathize with her and feel like her presence in the story was more than justified. While not understanding a word of this song, I though it has a vibe that's so fitting to her and the conflicts she experiences throughout her character arc. Perhaps the song itself would never leave such an impression on me if it wasn't paired with visuals from the series, sure, whatever. But it's a really nice selection and you played the atmosphere of these scenes off of it really effectively. Strong sense of pacing, this is not a "long" song but it's certainly a big undertaking for a drama/romance AMV. Maybe my interest was especially piqued because I just watched this series? I don't know, what I'm trying to say is I certainly never got bored, there was never a passage where I felt like things were starting to drag.

Technically, it felt like a very unlikely combination of a couple of videos you've made in the past, but (or because of that?) it still felt refreshing and original.
Honestly, any effort that's built around the premise of cutting out the supporting characters as much as possible from this movie is going to have my attention. There's definitely important scenes that they prominently feature in and actions they take that are essential to the plot, but I thought there was way too much of them in the film, at the expense of the most important important characters and the resolution of their conflict.

I guess I don't have quite so much to say about this one except that it delivers on all my hopes for what a Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions! Take On Me AMV would look and feel like.
