Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Hey guys...I made this like four months ago and now that AWA Pro's over I can finally upload it. It was a blast to make, and I hope you guys enjoy it!

I love it when you make videos like this, always getting my share of just plain old master class editing.
I can't say yet for sure but I bet this will be one of my top favorites of the year again.

Btw I agree with you about the anime, it's an absolute gem. I'm really looking forward to whatever Masaaki Yuasa puts out next.

Upbeat and fun approach probably pays off more than treating this material like serious business. Not that Table Tennis the Animation isn't serious business, but we don't need an AMV to tell us that. The opening and closing sequences were my favorite parts, which speaks both to how good those particular sequences were -- the first 10 seconds in this were a pretty much perfect intro, and the brilliance of the whole the last minute or so is almost easy to overlook in that I always felt like I was watching some montage that was surely plucked straight out of the series and just stuck into the end of the AMV rather than something you actually edited yourself -- and how, for reasons that I can't quite articulate, some of the character-focused parts in the middle of the video didn't have the same energy and left me wanting something more. Exactly what that is, I can't really say. That's not to say that those parts of the video didn't work. They did their part.

This is not the first Ping Pong AMV I've seen (I've seen a few on Youtube, nothing made by anyone here), but it's the first I've watched all the way through and actually enjoyed from start to end. Worth the wait!

Thanks man...I fricking love Masaaki Yuasa's stuff, everything I've watched from him has been pure gold. Glad you enjoyed the video

Agreed on all points, really -- the opening and closing portions of the video are definitely the best, and I also think that the middle portions are somewhat lacking in energy. In my defense, it was either go all-out with non-stop action scenes a la all the other Ping Pong videos out there, or do something a little more character-focused which required a bit less energy because Ping Pong doesn't have a whole lot of middle-paced scenes -- they're either mostly static or crazy and chaotic. Or maybe there's a third option and I was just too lazy to think of it, I dunno.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback as ever. Glad you liked it
