Life Seems Different (Mushishi - AMV)

This is the story of a strange lonely wanderer that Visite a feudal japanese village on the west coast. He brings them a strange glowing sake. It helps them to forget their daily lives and enjoy nature and the little things again.
"Were the trees and the grass always so radiant?"

Hey there. I just made an AMV again for a local AMV-Contest here in Austria. This time I made a really slow and atmospheric amv that has it's main focus in storytelling. At least that's where my efforts in editing and effects went into. I seem to like to edit slow AMVs more and more. It's kinda fun.

I have to heavily recommend this to fans of Mushishi. I bet you don't get to see a lot of good AMVs with that anime.

Anyway... I really like this video. Please let me know what you think about it! To see and feel how you react on my videos means a lot to me.

I really, really liked this. To be honest, I didn't really get much story out of it--and probably wouldn't have if not for your quote--but I love the atmosphere, and how you focused more on shots of nature & the mushi, rather than the people. The sync to the mushi around 1:16-1:20 was really nice too. The only thing I really didn't like was the inverted flicker around 2:20. All your effects were very subtle up until then, so that one came off as too in-your-face. Some of the clips were also very obviously sped up and looked a little strange, but overall I still really enjoyed this. Great work!

I've uploaded more versions of the video on my Google Drive. Some of you might prefer different resolutions and 29,97fps instead of 59,94fps. Although this is meant to be watched at 59,94fps :)

I would like to make an effects-breakdown video, but right now the DOTA2 International Tournament is on xD Watching it with friends keeps my evenings occupied :3

@tayugirl:
Glad you liked it! I honestly didn't know anything else than an invert- or noise-effect for that part. I decided to take the invert one. It's not as much out of place than a noise effect and I somehow like the harsh cut with it.

The beginning of the video is kept to be around 29,97fps (visually not technically) so the real 59,94fps will look weird and different. I always have to remember how weird and strange 60fps looked when a friend and I tried it out in 2007. Somehow I wanted to partially recreate the experience.

Excellent video. I enjoyed it from the beginning to the very end. I've seen some your works in the past, but this one takes the cake (for your very best video) (imo). :up:. Surprised it has not received much comments for such a well made video.

This was nice. I don't have too much to say one way or the other, really; it tells a pretty clear story and feels trippy and weird so I think it achieves its purpose. The only things that kinda-sorta bothered me were the linear blurs, which...well, they just looked too stock I guess, but that's me being nitpicky. Also, that invert filter at 2:20...yeck, that hardly ever looks good, and it was really jarring and ugly here. And I agree with tayuyagirl about some of the sped-up footage (the most glaring one is 1:41-1:42), but most of it is alright.

But that's all mostly minor. I do like the internal sync and I think the pacing is handled really well throughout. Good job, nice to see you back!
