A question about category type, I know these issues come up and from what I can tell they are handled with grace. I have a video that, despite containing action, I may strongly consider it a drama but judges may feel otherwise. I may also submit an action. If there is a categorization issue, will there be the opportunity to retract an entry if there is such a conflict?

Yes. If there's an issue you can withdraw an entry if you wish.

I'm sorry this is extremely off-topic, but it looks like AX has no official forum this year - does anyone know if they will be adding more hotels later? Otherwise looks like I won't be able to attend... :-/

Hotels get snatched up fast, like within hours of the con blocks opening. I think there's still one or two hotels that are yet to be released but I have no info on when that'll be.

However, I do believe it is highly likely that slots at the booked hotels will open up closer to con. The reservation system currently allows people to book a hotel without a deposit, so people tend to reserve more rooms than they need and cancel just before con.

Thanks, Xstylus! We have never had a problem scoring a room prior to this year. It seems like things have gotten worse, unless we just got insanely lucky the previous 5 years. I guess we'll wait and see...

I hopefully will remember to send the video I forgot to send last year. Although now that I think about it, it's probably a WMV... (made it years ago and lost the project file -_-) Haven't had time to work on new AMVs in a long while :/

edit: Ahah, it is an MP4! I don't even have to change the extension and hope nobody notices

For the first time ever, I think I'll enter Anime Expo. I'm going to go back and look at my video tonight to see whatelse I can touch up.

I think I shall have a second new one to send in here soon... I just need to tighten up timing, but I think all the big stuff is done so it should be a few more weeks, and then it will be ready. I just need to decide on a category for it, as I could make a case for Action, Romance, or Upbeat because it has elements of all three so I need to decide which I think it will do better in first before I send it as well. But hopefully in the next week or two I should have it submitted.

I just recently checked the status on my AMV I just submitted and noticed that someone else submitted an AMV with the same entrant code number as me but with a different email.
Could this effect how many entries I can submit?
