Mr Oni
The Slayers TV series is well dubbed. The movie and OVA's weren't so hot.
I will agree with you there but lina wasn't done horrible in those.

I think Arucard's dub voice in Hellsing sucks. Same with Alexander's dub voice. I like the Japanese counterparts much much better.

So far for Gundam they've dubbed
Mobile Suit Gundam (series and movie trilogy)
08th MS Team
0080
0083
Char's Counterattack
Gundam Wing
Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
and
G Gundam

They've still got a ways to go although they're not off to a bad start (can't say I was a big fan of the G Gundam dub either...Why the Hell did dub Wong have to sound like a fancyman?)

So far my experiance with dubbing is that whatever I hear a significant portion of a series in first, becomes my favorite. However, this isn't the most qualified assesment, as the only show I've seen with really bad dubbing was the X OVA. Love Hina, I've only seen dubbed, so I'll take your word on that. Trigun, Bebop, Kenshin, and others I've seen in both and it just goes with whatever voice I establish a character as having in my head. Sort of like when you read a book and get an impression of a character, then see a movie or hear an audio book and it's totaly different from how you think the voice should sound. Not better or worse, just different.

Well, teh famous dub/sub war seems to also depend on ones native language. Like me, i speak german natively, but I enjoy watching Anime/general movies in english the best. But I too think that the japanese voices fit better in most situations - like Now and Then, Here and There. IMO the dub isn't bad, but the voices of the japanese actors fit the characters more. But I watched it dubbed though, just because it is far more relaxing to me to just sit back and enjoy the show, rather than reading subtitles all the way, and not getting the action on screen!

Peace out,

dubbing can be fine but some dubs do suck. Like love hina i'm a big fan but when i first saw the dub i was pissed it totally sucked especially kitsune. Ugh! that southern accent still makes me want to kill.

I think dubs are fine as long as there are good. Love hina is a crappy dub.
Eva, Gundam, ah my goddess tenchi ect were really good dubs.
What I notics is it comes down to who makes the dubs. Bandia I notices is really bad bout it dubs and seems not to care to much bout there quilty while Ponineer is really good about it dubs and all of them are really good dubs.
Me I perfer watching dubs first to get the story because if I watch the subs first I conecttraiting on reading the subs and I mess the story. After I watch it dub I try to go back and watch is sub to hear so I can see how good it was done and to hear the japeses voices
If humans don't want me....
Then why'd they create me?
