This would be very interesting.Shin-AMV wrote:I think this basic concept of this Team MEP IC thing could be made into a cool Org hosted type contest. Combine something like Project OrgEditor with the concept behind Level Up and make it a team thing and it would be quite the fun times. Have 1-2 veteran/experienced (or dare I say it, "pro") editors coordinate a team of new or aspiring editors. The veteran editors would be continually offering new advice/tips each week for the new themes/genres while the entire team scrambles to put something together to try and defeat all the other teams for the top prize. I'd be pretty fun.
I'm currently typing under the effects of ambien, so I dunno how much sense any of this made if it did at all, I'll reread it later if I remember to make sure its not a bunch of nonsense that I just wrote.

The main problem though, is that people drop. If you saw Project Editor, you'd see that people were dropping left and right, all the way up to the finals. The time-frames that each round took place during would have to be perfectly timed out with each and every editor's schedules otherwise you'd have reports of "This team started with 6 editors but only 2 actually worked on the project." or "Our video would have been better but x and x dropped at the last minute." nonstop. It's a fucking kick ass idea though, and it'd be AMAZING to see it done. I just hate the reality that it would more than likely devolve into a giant mess

Why you gotta crush things with your facts and logistics of reality. D: But yeah, looking at it now, a multi round contest might be nigh impossible to pull off.Radical_Yue wrote:The main problem though, is that people drop. It's a fucking kick ass idea though, and it'd be AMAZING to see it done. I just hate the reality that it would more than likely devolve into a giant messI mean hell, look at Brad's IC. Those are only 1 vs. 1 matches and it's almost been a year now with no end in sight. And from what I was told about THIS MEP IC, the majority of the people who originally started it dropped out shortly after it started and last minute replacements had to be found, even if they only had a day to edit.
But maybe just a 1 round random 1-2 week long event every now and then might be more doable and encourage some activity and participation at the org, and help give a way for some editors to interact with each other that they might not otherwise have a chance to get. Maybe after OrgEditor is finished this year though, I wanna try and see if I can coordinate something fun like this. Get a roster of solid editors and a sign up sheet for aspiring editors and their editor friends to work with those editors, learning things quick on the go about encoding, timing, scene selection, and being able just to chat with some other editors. It'll be like those workplace team building exercises except not as dumb (well, hopefully not as dumb).

I really would like to do this, but Yue brought up some good points. Maybe you could factor in drop-outs when making the teams. Like, make sure there are extras in case of this.Shin-AMV wrote:Why you gotta crush things with your facts and logistics of reality. I like your idea though, Shin, on staggering it to be an occasional thing, rather than a sustained effort. I think that could totally work, especially if teams are allowed back-up editors in case one of the dates comes up and an editor doesn't have time or what have you.
