People bitch about the "crappy" features that you get for your donation so they don't donate. At the end of the day, free users won't get the edit button because it has been abused in the past, and that is why we need to trust the user; best thing we can rely our trust on through the system is donator status (and donators also abused of the edit button in the past as well, but we need to draw the line somewhere).
The only thing we could do would be a timed edit button for free users, which would allow them to edit for X hours after posting and that's it.
Also, SA is likely Something Awful.
